I always hated that you received the same amount of adam from rescuing them as you do harvesting them. All those gift baskets the German doctor are full of adam, enough probably to be completely even with the harvesting options.

Harvesting is objectively the inferior choice when it comes to rewards.

I got through like 60% of Bioshock 1 before I got tired of the mechanics. I rescued everyone. I was a little bit dissapointed that that woman scientist sends you adam or whatever to compensate for the shit you lost. Then what's the fucking point for the player, if you don't even get more powerful if you harvest them?

You earn back the adam you missed from rescuing in plasmids. Also it gives you the good ending.

Maybe the special plasmids for rescue, but definitely not the extra Adam. Should have forced you to make a conscious decision about limiting your total Adam, thereby limiting your plasmid choices, in exchange for the reward plasmids.
I will admit, in BS1 getting the big daddy plasmid 2 is fucking awesome. Just make him your loyal follower, then let teh games begin.
Rescue was literally always the better option. You ended up with more plasmid points or whatever they were called.
