To my knowledge neither P3 or P4 got those either, so I don't know what people were expecting.
So what date do you expect for a release outside of Japan? I'm thinking it'll probably be early 2017 or even summer, but who knows. Maybe with the popularity of the series they'll go for something closer. Either way it's going to be shitty trying to avoid spoilers.
At least SMTIV Apocalypse is coming in-between.

Anyway
Hopes:
The mascot character is as fun as Teddie.
Social links play a bigger role than just exp boost on fusion and unlocking ultimate persona at max level.
Social links are better integrated into the flow of the story. Especially romance. (in P4 it was never really acknowledged outside of the social links themselves that you were close friends or lovers with someone). They might put in demon negotiation as well as persona fusion since the demons are involved this time.
Worries:
None in particular, I guess I'm a little concerned with what they might do to the social link system and the romance stuff, they haven't explicitly said it will all work the same or have the same features and it's been a while since the previous games.
Complaints:
Some of the 3D models in the gameplay footage have weird facial features like eyes being too far apart/looking goofy.

It doesn't necessarily need to. Several P3 party members have social links, all of them in P3P, and that didn't change anything.
The problems with P4's story and characters don't have anything to do with the fact that they gave them a social link.
Just think it's gonna be more P4 again, and I don't think I can stomach that for another 80 hours.
I actually thought this would have been different enough. Doesn't seem like it at all, though.

Fair enough. I guess I just tend to associate the way that P4's characters relegated most development to their social links with the way that most of them don't have an imperative role in the main story.
If it was possible, I'd like to see the more important social links tie into the main plot more as well. But I doubt there will be that much branching dialogue based on what kind of relationships protagonist-kun has with the group.
