The PS4 is actually great value. Not even trying to bait, it's a good option for people looking to play multiplats at decent settings.

i3 minimum to prevent bottlenecks = $100
>GPU
AMD shits the bed in tons of games, especially with a weak CPU.
4GB of VRAM if you want to run textures on medium/high like many PS4 games (yes, they do).
So GTX 960 4GB = $180 (yep, it beats a PS4 but it's expensive) or 370 4GB = $140 (with myriad AMD problems)

400, 800, 1000, 2000 is the same for anyone with a fucking job.
Plus even if we stop at value alone, games cost 25 bucks at release on pc while 60 on consoles, and then they drop to cents months later while it takes years for psn to lower prices. Finally sites like humble bundle give you a shit ton of games for almost free. PC has a higher initial cost, but talking strictly about value is greater value than a console. Buying and selling your physical games is actually more expensive than just buying games, and doesnt let you build a library.
Then again I dont care about value. I care about games

I held off until the 360 due to red rings and waited for the falcon board and 65nm CPUs with an HDMI port on the non-elites(pictured). Held off on the DS until the XL. And held off on the 3DS until it had a 2nd analog. Also hold off on Steam games and put them on my wishlist until there is a sale. Being an early adopter is suffering. You can avoid the frustration with patience. And you'll end up enjoying your purchases much more when you don't have have to constantly compare your enjoyment to the price.
