yeah dude forget about night fire, blops or literally any other fps released in the last 10 years. This n64 game with hardly any features is the best!
>>

It literally had a wall hack gun alien sniper rifle, whats not to love
>>
It had tons of great ideas in it and awesome splitscreen, but (un)fortunately FPS games have became so much smoother to control that practically all nineties console FPSes feel clunky as fuck now. Including Perfect Dark. Really, no other genre has the same problem in same magnitude.

Xbox version kind of makes it better because it has much, much better average framerate and improved controls, but it still feels a bit aged in a bad way.

I felt a lot of the things in Perfect Dark, such as the multiplayer settings and bot customization, every weapon having a secondary fire mode, the hover bikes, and the firing range challanges, were first seen on a console in PD.

You keep using these words like they don't apply to Perfect Dark. I love the game too, but let's be honest, it's a very basic fps that was hamstrung by the hardware of the time.

Too bad it was released on a system that even with the upgrades couldn't sustain a playable framerate much less a resolution that didn't look like sludgy garbage. You get vehicle races, some objectives that require stealing vehicles, animal hunting/taming, and some basic fetch quests. Are you going to try and argue that PD is somehow more advanced than that?
>The fuck? The game is a tactical shooter, there is no taking pictures nor planting shit.
There is literally a mission where you have to plant a bug in a corporate building and stealth your way out. Try actually playing video games sometime underage.
>None of those games have the player take pictures or plant anything
I interpreted your question as a shooter with an objective besides standard shoot to kill anything that moves. Both Half Life games, plus the episodes feature puzzles.

Crysis was innovative for its time, much like how HL2 feels stale when played so many years later. Much of the industry took notes from Crysis, hence why it now feels stale.

You can literally spend 100's of hours just playing single player simply because there was alot of cool ass content and hidden secrets stored in this game. Then when you hit multiplayer. HOLY FUCK!.
Think of it as the doom for console. Dooms modding community made it to where you can spend years in this game and PD was the same exception.
Hell thats not to mention the other amazing little things that the devs created like disarming of enemies, reaction to gunshots, impressive AI, actual bots you can play a against(this should be a standard for most fps or multiplayer game in any console fps), Etc.

Playtonic aka Rare 2.0 decides to make an FPS.
Will it be as good as PD?

The people who made Prey should have been the ones to remake Turok.

Timesplitters.

That's cool and everything, don't get me wrong, but my point still stands that neither of those games could touch other FPSes that were out at the time. Not to mention that there were a decent amount of levels in both games that had a lot of hallways and corridors, something that gets absolutely shit on in today's FPS.
I'll at least admit Perfect Dark is a good game, but it really can't stand up to other shooters released at the time so I don't think it should be free from dislike or criticism like that anon is saying.

Oh, that's neat.

I'm inclined to agree. Theres so much content in this game for its age that its pretty insane.

Had this released on PC with mod support and some multiplayer tweaks, it WOULD be, no doubt.

If it's of any note, the guy who developed Doom 64 EX was behind the recent Turok re-release.

When the fuck will he release Powerslave EX in some form though

Yeah, Doom 64, Strife, Powerslave, and working on Blood.

Oh no of course its got some flaws, but it can most definetly stand up to an average fps of modern day.
The biggest flaws this game had was some weak levels, Shitty framerate, and bad controls. Honestly the good outweighs the bad when it comes to this game in my opinion atleast. I don't know many fps that changed almost everytime you played the game and even some choices and things you did in the last level can make the next harder or easier.
(the president level in particular is really an intresting idea.)
It's definitely a contender to best console fps to ever exist simply because of how much replayability, intriguing and diffrent level objectives that only got harder and more shit to do when you cranked the difficulty up, and overall variety in weapon design. Not to mention the amazing multiplayer content.
Seriously I had friends and we both played PD and GoldenEye multiplayer and everyone agreed PD better simply because it has way more options, guns, and even gamemodes to fuck around with. Hell alot of our fun came from essentially playing against bots in multiplayer.

The control and framerate issues were fixed in the 360 remake.
