How did everything go so wrong? It looked promising but turned out to be complete shit. Why did they go down the boring Ubisoft open world route?

They probably felt it was the safest route.

I must have missed something because the original Homefront was exactly that. Why would anyone expect this reboot to be different.

I haven't seen an inch of marketing about this game. It is an "all of a sudden, heres this video game" appearance.

The best thing about home front 1 was the mp. I loved the mp. but this doesn't even have that. whats the fucking point

It should've been a story intensive, linear shooter campaign like the older Call of Duty titles. The first game tried to be like Modern Warfare 2 but ended up being shit and too short

The original Homefront had an utterly disgusting marketing budget. Hell, the entire development process was a complete fucking mess. And the game turned out to be dogshit. Bad enough to kill Kaos Studios.

I'm still baffled as to how a sequel was greenlit, but it was. I'm guessing they toned down on the marketing budget this time which is why it's flown under the radar.

How is this "generic". What does that even MEAN anymore?

Doom 4? That's generic. A cookie cutter iD Software FPS game that does basically nothing new, innovative, or original, treading ground, mechanics, and themes done over and over before.

But Homefront 2? Eh... There aren't a lot of games in this particular genre with this sort of vibe.

I literally cannot think of a more boring combination of genres, first game was shit too and only sold because people wanted an alternative to COD4 so I'm surprised they even considered making a sequel
>>
>>337977280
Homefront 2 was originally a linear FPS game, but when they moved publisher from Crytek to Deep Silver, the lead developer decided to rework the game to be open world.

If he'd left the game linear, people would whine that it was a Call of Duty clone. But if he goes open world, it's accused of being a "generic" "Far Cry clone".

>I literally cannot think of a more boring combination of genres, first game was shit too and only sold because people wanted an alternative to COD4 so I'm surprised they even considered making a sequel
Killzone only sold because people wanted Halo on PS2. Look how many sequels that's gotten.

Ah, well, that's about it, I guess. Don't let anybody stop you from being a language pedant, anon; I do it too all the time.
>>
>>337977005
I agree that you are super autistic, but you're also wrong about word usage.

All of a sudden, an idiom, is found in most modern dictionaries (if not all) and considered correct because acceptable and known phrases take precedence in language before grammar.

Language is not math, so it's no surprise that autists don't understand it. It is fluid.

Also, a lot of people simply liked the first Homefront's campaign, short as it was. A lot of people like Free Radical games.
>>
>>337978968
Killzone was a Halo clone.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a Delta Force: Black Hawk Down clone. (The fact Delta Force: Black Hawk Down developers have made everything from Homefront to Call of Duty to Medal of Honor to Battlefield probably plays a role, too.)

It's actually laughable in execution. Literally everything is magic clip on shit, including receivers.

You have a magic stock you can slap AR, LMG, and grenade launcher receivers on with no effort that somehow stay together even though it takes you zero effort to pull them off.
>>
>>337978998
>look how that turned out

You're talking about single player? That's the only thing going for doom and the snap map shit. The multiplayer is still shit.

>the gameplay looked decent

But since they proved that to be wrong in the beta, the gameplay was pretty fuckin bad and uninspiring. You could kill an armored car with an M4 Carbine. The movement was sluggish so the only way to get around was a dirt bike. With no comp multiplayer that game is DOA

Black Ops 3 = lead engineers are Delta Force people, along with scripters. Ghosts had Delta Force people working on it (basically every Infinity Ward CoD going back to CoD1, CoD2 had Delta Force people working on it.) So I imagine there are Delta Force people working on Infinite Warfare.

Novalogic people, especially Black Hawk Down people, are fucking everywhere. Like rats in the FPS walls. Basically the entire lead audio department at Blizzard is Delta Force: Black Hawk Down people.

What are you talking about? The game always looked like shit and a doomed project. The only reason I even knew it existed is because of all the times it was passed around between publishers like it was some kind of super hot IP, which everyone in this board and elsewhere knew it wasn't. This was completely expected, lack of marketing and hype included.
>>
Online Co-Op sounded pretty neat. Wonder how it works.
>>
>>337979487
>Will probably still play it as soon as fps is better and not locked?
The FPS is not locked, to my knowledge. It just has trouble staying at 60. The irony here is that the first Crysis can't hold 60 on modern hardware, and people still jizz all over it.

Sure. But Homefront and Crysis are both, obviously, CryEngine games.

No, the problem with Crysis is it doesn't have multithreading. A 4Ghz i7 is incapable of keeping the game at 60fps.

It does look generic, retard. You are a meme of yourself

It already is one. People's senses are so dull, that just featuring even a tiny shred of something they aren't very familiar with but see more than once makes them feel like it's oversaturated. "It's generic" is about as verifiable as "it's fun"

>Reminder that Dambuster developed this shit instead of making a Timesplitters sequel

Deep Silver has the rights to it now, and they even put a few levels from 2 in this. Which is probably the biggest slap in the face in history.

I really hope it's hinting they're AT LEAST making HD remasters of the trilogy, because what the fuck. Who even asked for a Homefront sequel?

if they wanted a cover of this shit they might have pick faith no more's version... i'm sure patton would let it go for a fair price

seeing this makes me want to play Freedom Fighters.

Maybe if it drops to like 15 bucks in the winter sale I'll snag it.

Pretty sure the hd remake isn't happening since there's the one fan remake being made that has the endorsement of the original team so that will probably be as close as we get

That makes no sense.

This is the worst fucking cover I have ever heard, I thought Disturbed cover of Genesis Land of Confusion on top with the meaningless EDGELORD video that accompany was the worst musical abortion I had to endure.
If we could only mix it with Sonic Chronicles soundtrack on a vaporwave style it would be a supreme work of ironic art.

I'll be honest. This is the first time I've heard about this game.

>It's two levels from TS2 in their entirety

A little more than an easter egg.
