Jedi Academy lets you start with a lightsaber, I'm assuming because of overwhelming fan feedback after Jedi Outcast.
Human Revolution has its best hub right after the extended tutorial. You don't have the ideal augs and weapon upgrades at that point but it's a lot better than dragging like most games do early levels.

Civ 6 got.me hyped. So I played Civ V and couldn't even make it past turn 20. The meta in the game is just so prevalent that it's like I always end up getting funneled one way, especially early game.
