The violence is uncensored, but the story doesn't mention nazis at all and all swastikas or other forbidden symbols were removed. The straight up need a VPN to launch it in germany.

i haven't played Doom or listened to the soundtrack yet, but maybe check out Killer Instinct.

it's the same composer (at least for the earlier seasons before that other game took over, presumably because Mick went to work on Doom)
>>

That's not what I meant retard, I meant how can the censor all that shit and keep any semblance of story in tact when that's the entire subject of the game. Shouldn't have even come out in Germany altogether.
>>
>>337912197
Wolfenstein TNO and TOB are the only games that do this. PS4 does not have a way to block a game from being played afaik.

It is not even that owning a game like Wolfenstein is illegal, only selling it is illegal ( you can order it from abroad and if costums intercept nothing will happen to you as the buyer didn't break any laws.) it is just Bethesdas lawyers are straigt up retarded.

This reminds me of Metal Gear Rising's soundtrack: somewhat cringy by itself, but fits the mood and the action of the game perfectly.

Oh yea don't get me started on this, all Swastikas are replaced by different symbols and instead of nazis they reference some sort of german religious cult, for example the train scene where engel questions wether your have pure aryan blood, she interrogates you to find out if your soul is clean.

In fact, why didn't they just hand D44M to the guys that did TNO? They showed that they know how to make a modern entry in a genre defining franchise from id.

Why? Doom feels more classic than any of the recent Wolfenstein games.

By the way: The same guy did the soundtrack for Doom.
>>
>>337914094
You know, I've got to wonder if the game would've worked as well for a German audience anyway. A lot of the story and setting borrows from fears of a Nazi victory from the era that have been built into the public consciousness of most western nations in the decades since in a 'good thing we stopped that' sort of sense. I may well be talking out of my ass but I have a feeling that Germany sees the war a little differently to a lot of the rest of the world.
>>
Sort of off-topic, but I recently released this track and I'm partly vidya OST inspired regarding the use of synths:

>>

>The same guy did the soundtrack for Doom
How did it come out so much worse?
>Doom feels more classic than any of the recent Wolfenstein games
That's an interesting point. Wolfenstein 2009 was a bit of a trainwreck but TNO did a good job of combining classic sensibilities with some of the things that have gotten better rather than worse in the genre in the years since. I haven't seen or played enough of D44M to have formed a comprehensive opinion but I'm not super impressed at this point.

The new DOOM is the closest to a classic FPS made by a AAA dev in over a decade. It's extremely fun. Shame about the multiplayer though.

>>
>>337915053
>What else should it have been? It's hard to top Quake 3.

Load outs are what completely destroy the multiplayer. You can't have classic arena style gameplay and not have weapon placement and map control without it. It's just retarded in every way.
>>
>>337914884

>>
>>337915142
Nope. Go back to /b/, it matches your impressionable demographic more.
>>
>>337914374
You are from America, right?
I ask because most americans seem to go by the notion that countries only develop their sense of the past from the things that happened to their elders an nothing more. Over the past 50 years american pop culture has become the worlds pop culture at large, so we all have seen the american side of the war and post war in countless movies, games and other form of media since.
So we know, where the writers are comming from and can relate to it.

Btw, not all germans were nazis back then, infact most weren't. They just didn't say anything for fear of being killed, so we do have that historic side as well-
>>
>>337914374
>You know, I've got to wonder if the game would've worked as well for a German audience anyway
Of course it would have. That whole brouhaha is really just a consequence of the "video games aren't art" thing. You can have as many nazis in movies or on TV as you want, because they're art, but not in video games, because they're not art.
>>

>You can't have classic arena style gameplay and not have weapon placement and map control without it

Reminded me of Metal Gear: Revengeance or whatever the fuck the word is.

The music is pure overproduced garbage but it seems to be perfect in the context of the flow and atmosphere of the game, which makes it far more enjoyable than it should be. I tried listening to the ost on my mp3 player and, just like when I tried the same thing with MGR odt, it was insufferable.

Where I live we've suffered a fair bit of Eagleland osmosis but we still have a firm sense of our own identity and involvement in the conflict. I wouldn't expect a reversed perspective or anything but I'd imagine the nation that not only lost the war the hardest but instigated the conflict in the first place in a political climate unrecognizable compared to the one it has today would lead to something of a different outlook on the war.

>incredibly low shit sounding guitar with more incoherent bullshit
How fucking disappointing this was. Best songs in the game are the ones that dont do this like here >>337912878 but the ones that play during action are nothing like that. There will be a goos guitar riff, which I still dont really like because they're so low sounding, but then it comes to a halt, some electronic beep and boop comes on ruining the flow of the song, and it just keeps happening. When it directly remakes an old song you realize all he did was make it sound worse in every way. People call it industrial metal like labeling it somehow is a defense, if thats Industrial then its simply something I will avoid from now on.

I really like the style of music in Doom 4, I just wish there was more variety.

I suppose it's in the name of fan service, which this game has some of the greatest.
