As someone how likes arthouse games like Drakengard, NieR, Killer 7, Space Funeral, OFF, etcetera, I think Omori has the most potential of any "Motherlike" that has been announced. YIIK looks like pure garbage though may be fun, Knuckle Sandwich looks like pure tumblr shit, and Mother 4 looks creatively bankrupt.
Omori, on the other hand, looks like the more subtle videogame equivalent of Me!Me!Me!, and given that it has completely different direction from the aforementioned animated short, it has the potential to be creative and unique. It just needs solid execution and great art/sound/game design. I hope that omocat's drawings and real life photos are used in the game instead of just the trailer, because the contrast between omocat's cutesy style and the dark/grittiness of filtered photography could evoke a plethora of emotions.
However, this all depends on how competent the director of the game actually is.
Omori could also provide more of a solution or a more complex/developed perspective on the "Hikkiomori" syndrome, again, if the developer is competent.

Earthbound is a japanese game set in the west, while Omori feels like it's a western made game set in a weird anime style world.
Out of the Mother-Likes that are popping up, I think this one seems the most interesting to me.

I never said I hated all turn based battles, Earthbound's combat is just shit. There's no room for interesting tactics, every enemy is beaten in a simplistic way, and it was always insanely obvious on what to do each turn. There's no room for interesting decisions to be made with Earthbound's combat. I don't remember a single interesting encounter other than the last boss. You spend the majority of your time in these encounters therefore the game is shit. When you aren't fighting the game loves to waste your time with the shitty inventory system and walking slowly from place to place. It's fucking garbage
