You've gotten good invasions then. Every invasion I get is a host wearing rags and a katana with two phantoms. I kill his two phantoms, and then attempt to chase him down. After 2 minutes of him not attacking me and just rolling, both of his summons are back. I like using hammers, GS, and UGS but I can't manage to hit a player actively avoiding me. I switch up combos, and even attempt the shitty stomp, but they just keep on rolling.

If it's shorter you're just going to move on to the next guy doing the same thing. The length of the fight literally doesn't matter. It's the same activity, you should get the same enjoyment.
