Are you saying we shouldn't pay for expansions? I have no desire to pay for tiny DLC updates that should be free in the first place, but if an expansion changes the game enough that it's essentially a new game, then it's worth paying for. Plus every game I've ever seen that actually DOES need an expansion to be worthwhile has come out with a bundle including both that costs the same price as any other full game.
