So, I've heard lots of good things and lots of really bad things about this game. What's up with that? It looks like a Half-Life 2 mod.
Is it some sort of cult classic that I'm missing? Is it actually good or is it just a /v/ meme? Is it worth playing?

You'll either love it or hate it.
There's no middle way.
The whole game summed up in one picture.
it's annoyingly self-important
I'm willing to bet teh devs don't know what it's about
which is cool in a way- whenever devs try to ground their way out their game stories they fuck it up and what was magical turns out to be bland,so mayb eit was a cool choice, an attempt at circumventing "shit writers syndrome".
anyways it doesn't make any sense, the combat is dull and.. it's bad imo
>>337793968
Pretty much that. Try it and see for yourself, you can get it for a few bucks during the steam sales anyway. I had a lot of fun personally even if it can be annoyingly broken at times. Don't forget to level up your legs.
>>337794219
um what, its one of the most tongue in cheek games ever made while being a love letter to sci-fi and cyberpunk
>>337794176
>No legs
Close but no cigar.
>>337794369
my legs are fine
They gimped most of the fun parts of the game with a patch though. Long ways back you could just invest in legs over and over and leap across entire maps.
>>337793968
This.
And do Bro-op if you have friends, OP.
>>337794176
this so funny, im french and its a french game, and the term brouzouf is the shitword to say money. French delirium at its best
>>337794485
You can still do that, can't you? That being said I only played it recently, maybe it was even more powerful before.
>>337794456
Well anon, you know what they say.
You can't break a few legs without making an omoleggt.

The dev team is called streum and I believe the in-game monsters are also called streums.
>>337794650
j'ai jamais entendu le mot brouzouf de toute ma vie.
>>337793618
I played this at start and i got annoyed that the enemies are constantly respawning and i had no idea where to go. Is this still the case?
>>337794652
they patched in things like maximum velocities and such, used to also be able to send enemies flying into space as well.
>>337794219
It's great to see that even after extensive guides have been created, people still have trouble understanding the gameplay and story.
>>337794809
The dev team is called "streum on", which is the french slang for "monster", but inverted. "stre-mon", "mon-stre".
>>337793618
It's a psychological thriller disguised as a Doom clone with warhammer 40k themes.
So yea, give it a shot.
>>337794847
You can affect the enemy respawn, combat prowess, and detection in the options menu.
>I had no idea were to go in a game with waypoints
Ah, there's no hope for you then, better just move on.
>>337794809
yes streum is the reverse word of 'monstre', monster mister.
>>337794815
C'est un peu vieillot mais ça existe: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x13xpg_objectif-nul_creation (à 1:00)

Ah right, I thought it was just "streum".

ah ouai ? 'tain dans les année 90 ct utilisé tout le temps.
Can you play coop on pirated version? Like LAN?

>>337795012
i don't think there were waypoints when i played, i remember a mission that only said to find something but i didn't know where it was and the constantly respawning enemies pissed me off
which settings for that would be the best?

>So, I've heard lots of good things and lots of really bad things about this game.
Seems about right.
>What's up with that?
The game is extremely complicated, obtuse and barely explains itself.
It does a terrible job of introducing game mechanics, explaining skills and explaining the actual deep back story the game has.
And then there's the story, which you need to basically read the wiki to understand.
>It looks like a Half-Life 2 mod.
Because it runs on the Source engine.
Which means movement is a bit poo and you can get stuck on things on the ground.
>Is it some sort of cult classic that I'm missing?
It plays sort of like Deus Ex.
Do you want a gun where the fire modes are full auto and fuller auto?
A hand gun which gibs pretty much anything it hit?
Teleport inside of dudes and hitting them with a hammer which causes nuclear explosions?
Do you want to throw cars like they are rocks?
>Is it actually good or is it just a /v/ meme?
It is actually a gem, the gun play is cool and so are most of the skills and psy-abilities you can unlock.
It's heavily inspired by WH40.
>Is it worth playing?
Yes. Absolutely.
Don't expect it to be a 10/10 game though, because it's far from it.
>>337794847
>I played this at start and i got annoyed that the enemies are constantly respawning and i had no idea where to go.
That's intentional. Just roll with it. Go run around and gain brouzouf. Go explore and eventually everything will click.
>>337793968
Haha, anon don't listen to this Jian asshole!
Remember that Culters are the good guys!
Remember your training!
>>337794809
I thought the monsters where menstruations
>>337794847
oh, you want a corridor shooter
>>337795273
Oh and you can get your brain hacked by a door, hack other people's brains, and mindfuck cyber-hobos into shooting one another.
>>337795229
>i remember a mission that only said to find something
oh THAT mission.
It randomly spawns in one of the rooms in one of the apartments and there are around 10 apartments, and they all look the same, and there is no waypoint. And it's normally behind something so you can't see it right when you walk in.
The single worst mission in E.Y.E. I always get lost trying to do that one as well.
>>337795668
You do know you can just go talk to an NPC, not far from the bar and he will tell you exactly where he hid the briefcase, right?
>>337795668
It takes like one minute to go through every apartment though. I have more trouble navigating the level where you infiltrate the bandit den with the monsters spawning constantly.
I love that image. I also love that it's a gif by pure accident since it was made on the day 4chan only uploaded gifs for some reason.
>>337795816
>You do know you can just go talk to an NPC, not far from the bar
Wow. Well I just feel dumb now. I always just go in and shoot up the bar, then just go to the apartments.
>>337795896
The PEG for EYE is like the only time it's okay to have more than one(1) image in the last panel.
>>337796048
Threaten the bartender and he will tell you where to find the guy.
>>337795870
>I have more trouble navigating the level where you infiltrate the bandit den with the monsters spawning constantly.
You can skip all of that entirely.
Just shoot the guy you were sent to kill though the big metal door with all the guards around it with the TRK A.D., or hack the mind of one of his bodyguards behind the door and make him kill your target.
That's actually the fastest mission in the game if you do it that way.
>>337796581
Right, but that's kind of cheating. Although this mission is pretty annoying anyway so I always skip it now. I wouldn't recommend it for a first playthrough though.
>>337796120
I'v broken out of the cycle 6 times and i'm still discovering new ways to do it.

It's a mess of a game, OP. Think System Shock or Deus Ex, as made by people who didn't remotely understand what made either game good (hint hint: it wasn't the fucking augmentation/implant system, dumbasses!).

Perhaps it's actually Deus Ex, but played through the eyes of a Malk?

M8 you can complain about everything
You can complain about the plot
You can complain about how broken it is
You can complain that enemies spawn infinitely
But the combat is great, eat shit

I had no idea they were French. The translation is so bad and the game so unpolished I was convinced they were slavs.
>>337795050

>>337794875
Ah, that's clever. The French often play with words like that, don't they? It's called "verlan", I think, which follows the same rule to become "l'invers".
Ultimately it's pig latin without the -ay.
>>337799145
Gougle. And yes it's verlan, zinc.
E.Y.E is an experience. And not in the "pretentious piece of shit indie game" kind of way.

When you get down to the last couple, there is no shame in loading up the grinding map. Walk to the briefcase spawner, hit the button, and stand there as it showers you with cases.
While you wait, kill the deus ex's that spawn but can't attack for brozouf and XP.

Shouldn't have to, just make sure the map is in the right folder and you should be good.
It's a stupid game with huge empty maps, endlessly spawning enemies, monsters that run at you in single file like a conga line, a story that makes no sense, and a half assed skill system. And God damn is it fun as hell.
>>337809568
