>the spikes on the sword are a second cross guard so you can change hand positions and use it like a spear
>cant' do this in the game

>>Zwiehanders were a niche weapon used only by a couple of forces in all of history for very specific roles
That's like half of Souls weaponry. None of this is realistic.
>>337793604
Then I guess it's not a big deal you can't wield it in a realistic fashion

Anon tricked you good

>the spikes on the sword are a second cross guard so you can change hand positions and use it like a spear
It's called a ricasso, anon. Easier on the tongue.
And you don't need to restrict yourself to the ricasso, the blade can be tricky and dangerous to grip with a bare hand but a simple mail gauntlet makes it perfectly safe.
But you can poke with it though. You just can't rapid fire poke, but you cant do that in real life either.
>>337793647
it would be nice tho
>>337793263
It was also so you didn't cut your arm off resting it on your shoulder
Das 3 zwei should have had the charge or shield breaker WA
>>337794482
*ricasso and quillons
>>337794501
A rapid thrust can be done by supporting the blade with the off hand and pushing from the grip. Greatswords are essentially the polearm versions of swords.

Longsword style poking, not the spear like poking that the design intends.
>>337793263
It's also way too fucking big for a regular sized person to wield realistically.

>It's also way too fucking big for a regular sized person to wield realistically.
It's a real sword. The exact same design is in a Museum in, I think Scotland. It's likely where they got the design.
What these things were actually used for, I have no clue.

That's because you find that zweihander on a corpse in a cemetery, it's not yours. The only weapon that truly belongs to your character is the broken sword.

>Buy something
>Doesn't belong to you
>Pay someone to make something
>Doesn't belong to you
I know, right? The weapons should allow for more realistic options, like my drifting einhander over here.
>>337797358
But you stole it from a grave. You did not buy it or pay someone to make it.
>>337799154
I can sort of agree with that but I was referring to the ones you die buy and make. You said the only weapon you own is the starter one.
>>337796086
IIRC the sword that From based it on is actually Venetian. It had side rings too, which you can see on the texture for the DaS I zwei, but the 3D artists probably only had a side view for reference and didn't know what side rings are.
>>337796461
that was interesting thank you
>>337796461
Wait so the way it works in Dark Souls is actually really realistic in that you hold your claymore on your shoulder all the time?
