>>
>its a shitty trend that won't last and will leave them jobless worthless shitters of society in the years to come
feels good
>>
>>337748052
Pretty spot on actually. If they aren't investing the money they are fucking them selves.

Especially without some sort of skill set to fall back on.
>>
I remember when I was making a fortune on Diablo 3's real money auction house...
>>
>>337748052
lol They're making six figures, more if they go full jew. They'll be able to retire in the next few years.
>>
>>337750386
Not that many streamers make that much and that money won't last as long as you think, most barely make 40k which is jack fucking shit, also streaming offers no benefits like a normal career.

It's a trendy job that they're fucking themselves over by doing
>>
>>337750859
>>337748346
>>337748052

Keep trying to make yourselves feel better. People have been saying this shit for years. Even when it does fail, the people who have made money from it will have gotten what they wanted and all of us here will still be bitter /v/irgins.
>>
>>337751423
>He actually believes this

Enjoy trying to be 1 in 10 million.
>>
>>337745919
It's fine if you already have a real job that can reliably sustain you well into retirement. Like Day9, a fucking mathemathics major that is now working on his own game and doing what he loves, but even if that ever bombs or gets tired of gaming, he's got a great degree to fall back on
>>
>>337751423
>not seeing longterm
I can't wait to see people who wasted their 20s on streaming, coast through their 30s on the money the made and be fucked for the next 50 years working as a bagger at a grocer because they have no skills or money saved
>>
Why did he throw up? What did he drink? I thought it was just soda, was there something else in the can? Also why did his friends just sit there and stare at him?
>>
>>337751969
He's holding a shot glass in the other hand, so he just can't handle his booze
>>
>>337750859
>Not that many streamers make that much
>>337751524
>Enjoy trying to be 1 in 10 million.

I never implied the shitters at the bottom were going to be swimming in dough, but even a streamer like Destiny, who averages about 2,500 viewers, makes $140k a year.
>>
>>337752073
>no job security
>no dental or health insurance
>no coverage at all for that matter
>no 401k
>no retirement
>that salary isn't going to last
Only underage who have never had to pay bills or had a real job think that will sustain you forever

If its part time and they have actual plans for their lives then yes that's amazing for a part time job but if you're relying on that for life you're fucking retarded
>>
>>337751647
I don't plan to live past 30 anyway.

>inb4 you won't do it and you'll live on unhappy and broke

Oh I don't plan on directly dying by my own hand
>>
they still get to enjoy these times without the stress of income
Whats different from getting a job after this isnt enough and getting a job after college or high school
>>
>>337748052
The fad won't end unless the industry runs out of "interesting" games.
>>
>>337752526
the point you're setting already happened a long time ago. what's transferable now is the experience of enjoyment, which is, incidentally, exactly what's missing from modern games.
>>
>>337752526
I think you mean team based shooters
>>
The only long time career is women doing sex cam shows from their teens all the way to being a GMILF.
>>
>>337752279
Takes a fucking moron to complain about a 140k/yr job with minimal hours and stress on your body.

Just because you're jealous as fuck doesn't mean they're not putting money away to retire when it's done. If you're living in a small place and saving everything you can, it's pretty easy to save well over 50% of your income and retire when you're 40 comfortably. Keep being salty bruh
>>
>>337752921
Long time easy career, you mean?
>>
>>337748052

Implying Sodapoppin wouldn't get a 6 figure Job though nepotism from one of this Million viewers or Twitch connections.

He's set for an easy mode life at this point.
>>
>>337748052
This will NEVER happen. Just use your brain a little bit and think as to why streaming is popular in the first place. Most people simply do not have the time to enjoy video games. Furthermore, most people will always be skeptical as to whether or not the game is suited for them.

What's the solution? Watch someone else play it.

You get some of the enjoyment, socialization with a bunch of fuck strangers, and possibly additional entertainment factor if the guy you're watching is somehow funny. All for sitting at home, or even easier, doing work while watching it on your cellphone or second monitor.

Streaming can never die.
>>
>>337752952
>min hours
>stress on your body
>every one of the top guys making money
>put in hospital because needing to make demand for videos
>constantly sick
>always exhausted in their videos

Video games are fun as a passtime, not as a job 15 hours a day.
>>

I don't think you should comment on careers and lifestyle choices if you don't even know what nepotism is.

but sure keep getting mad at people more successful than you.

The only videos most of them have is just vods from streams, these people are making their living waking up at noon, streaming until 8 or 9, and doing fuck all with the rest of their lives. It's the cushiest job anyone could hope for.

>>
>>337754226

>>
>>337752526

why do people assume that people that stream or do anything else that gets them money in the now automatically dont ever invest in anything beyond that?
why does one lead to the other?
>>
>>337755060
Because spending 15+ hours a day recording game footage doesn't leave you much time to do anything else.
>>
>>337755060

>>
>>337755152

you still have time for night school or apprenticeship training in whatever thing you want to do

this shit looks like a 9-to-5 job looking at some of these streamers' actual schedules

If you made 150K a year (say Trump/Kripp/Summit1G levels of success), you're going to be taking home somewhere around 80-90K.

While 80-90K is nothing to sneeze at, you aren't going to put away enough money to retire on at any point in the forseeable future.

Further, you're absolutely fucking yourself when it comes to a future career. If you spent your 20s streaming games, what sort of career are you going to get in your 30s, 40s, etc.

Arin from Game grumps (and maybe Suzy?)is making so much money from the channel and merch, he pays pretty much everyone involved with the channel, and a cleaning lady their own salaries, several different animators periodically to provide game grumps animated cartoons to the channel from which I can only assume is a few hundred dollars, pays for tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment, make several trips to Japan, lives in a apparently really nice house that he installed a goddamn bidet in.

All the while he continues to network and meet a lot of different people.

Internet based media is growing in a lot of different ways, and you can be pretty damn successful if you know how to use it right. Plus, it's getting easier to find alternatives nowadays if certain websites fail for whatever reason.

>>
If you're a girl, streaming is extremely easy to get into. Twitch almost entirely consists of beta orbiters just looking for female attention.
>>
>>337752526
>unless the industry runs out of "interesting" games.

How did this trend become a trend then? The industry ran out of interesting games 20 years ago.
>>
I would stream but I have Tourette's I'm afraid people would make fun of my tics. The only entertainment job I could do is radio but I was born too late for that.
>>

Because that's what a seizure does, literally paralyze you. He lost his balanced and fell out of the chair and probably screamed either for help or because he hit his hard on the floor pretty hard. Same anon that was talking about it above, been there and have fallen out of my chair and knocked myself out, it hurts
>>
>>337757987
Will the trend ever end, though? There will always be streaming and donation services along with braindead beta cucks who have nothing better to do than hand out their paychecks to strangers over the internet.

There is no such thing as a sure-fire job that will keep you employed forever. The more "assured" the job becomes, the more effort it technically requires (lawyer, doctor, etc).
