What was your first JRPG?
Pokemon
>>337667083
Grandia II. it was fun
Lufia II, still one of my favourites.
Pokemon Crystal
If Pokemon don't count, Mega Man Battle Network 3
If that don't count, Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy on the NES.
Being a retarded child and not knowing how to recharge spell charges by sleeping in the INN, then giving up and making a party of 4 Fighters cuz dey hitted da hardest.
I did what autistic nerds do for challenge runs as my first RPG experience.
Pokemon Red
>>337667113
>>337667193
>>337667294
pokemon yellow
Pokemon blue
outside of pokemon, probably dragon quest 1+2 for the gbc
Disgaea was my first non Pokemon RPG I think. Now I'm addicted.
Either Pokemon Blue or Dungeon mode in Ehrgeiz
Super Mario RPG, great times
Earthbound.
What do you consider a JRPG? Turn-based?
If so, I've never played one unless FF: Tactics counts.
If not, I've played Dark Cloud.

>What do you consider a JRPG?
An RPG made by japs
>>337667083
My dad bought me a used SNES lot at flea market with a ton of games including Final Fantasy 4. I remember watching the cutscene on the ship and being really confused so I just never played it again until I was a teenager.
So I guess Final Fantasy 4. I got really into jrpgs later on, but I can't remember what exactly got me.
Pokemon Red, Chrono Trigger, Grandia 2. I believe it was in that order.
>>337667083
Dark Souls.
>>337667083
FF5. Got a bunch of SNES roms from a friend and this was one of them.
My english wasn't very good then, so I pretty much had to guess what to do next. Luckily it wasn't that hard in FF5.
It's a damn good game though. Job system is great and music is top notch.
Dragon Warrior when I was like 4 but I did not like or understand it. Then I played Golden Sun a few years later and it changed my life. I have played and completed Dragon Warrior last summer out of nostalgia and loved every second of it.
Also, playing pic related right now and loving it.
Probably SMRPG when it originally came out. I can't remember playing any JRPGs earlier than that.
chrono trigger or pokemon blue
>>337667083
Breath of Fire
>>337667083
Pokemon Blue, but at the time I didn't even think it was an RPG for some reason.
The first game that I sat down and knew was an RPG?Quest 64
>>337667083
the legend of dragoon if I remember correctly, that or shadow madness.
>>337668109

>PSX
Suikoden II/Lunar SSS
>PS2
Persona 3
>PS3
Trails of Cold Steel

Never been a Sega fag so those consoles fall out for me. GCN had Baten Kaitos, but I liked P3 more.
>>337667083
Dragon Warrior on the NES.
>>337667083
Dragon Warrior 4. I somehow beat it when i was 7 on the NES, but I can't beat the DS version now as a 30 year old. i did do a lot of grinding back then is probably why
I was very RPG deprived as a child, so the first one I ever played was FFX. I also think I started playing Pokemon around that time as well. I think the first one I played was crystal.
>>337668723
I haven't played many but here goes
>SNES
Terranigma
>PSX
Legend of Legaia or Tomba 1 if that counts
>PS2
Disgaea 1 or Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
>PS3WKC 1/2
>PS4Fucking nothing
Terranigma
Love it to this day.
Guardian Crusade.
Pretty good imo
>>337667083
either dark cloud or grandia
Paper Mario, before that I wasn't completely turned off by turn based combat.
>>337670151
*was
yes i'm old
Pokemon, but Lufia III on GBC was my first "traditional" JRPG. Still consider it one of my personal top favorite games for the memories.
Legend of Legaia
>>337669796
this
Watching a friend play Chrono Trigger. He was doing the Undersea Palace when I got to his house and I was hooked during the Blackbird segment after. Didn't even know video games could be that amazing story-wise.
pokémon ruby
Shining Force 2

never had a console before I was 17, started to emulate when I was 10.
I only played platformers, and diablo, before I tried emulation. Good times.
>>337671406

Super mario RPG on SNES. I was mostly an arcade kid till I was 13 and got an SNES as a gift for christmas.
>>337671471

The first time I played, the Butcher made me cry. I was not prepared as a 8y old.

>>337667083

>>337667083
Did the 64 have any jrpgs of note?
>>337672232
nope.
Pokemon.
Other than that I belive my second was golden sun.
>>337672232
Quest 64 is a love it or hate it kinda game.
Hybrid heaven is an excellent JRPG looked over often because of the awkward combat (which isn't really awkward, it just punishes you for only using one attack type, since you level up skills by using different skills, if you kick with your left leg, you'll get a big fucking muscly left leg, but every other limb won't do shit and if you get crippled, gg.)
ogre battle
PAPER FUCKING MARIO
Shiren the wanderer in japan if you don't mind dungeon crawlers/roguelikes.
If you consider just the RPG aspects, flying dragon and it's sequel are great. They're fighting games, but you upgrade with various items, learn different skills through scrolls and other shit.
>>337672359
>>337672232
Oh and Aidyn Chronicles was supposed to be a big JRPG for n64 but it was distilled, liquid ass.
>>337667083
Can't remember if it was either Pokemon or FF
