Papa G is the hardest first boss in the entire series.
Feel bad for co-oping, because the combat isn't really designed for it and it really trivializes the challenge of the game, thus cheapening the whole experience by preventing any degree of tension, but don't feel TOO bad.
In short, he's a bad man for new kids to run head first into if BB is their first souls game.

He's a tutorial. You get rekt until you learn to parry. Every boss up to rom teaches mechanics. BB is really well designed in that regard.

Father Gascoigne battle was meant to teach you visceral attacks, which are VERY useful in Bloodborne. You clearly missed your chance by letting 2 players kill him for you

Now obviously that's only like 5 people that played this game, so not a great sample size, but still, having him be the first non-optional boss is pretty rude.

I fought Papa G after the Cleric Beast, and was able to beat him first try without summoning. Maybe I got lucky or something, because I didn't parry at all during the fight.

Grey Demon you're meant to die to. He's not actually a boss in the game design sense, he's a narrative tool to get the player to the nexus.

Asylum is....... not really a boss either. He is meant as a narrative punctuation for getting out of the first area. He's the equivalent of the first werewolf in BB that kills you so you get to the Hunter's Dream. He's hard because

Gundyr.... might be a bit different, I'll concede.
I blew him out, but I've played all the games and get the combat. While I cannot imagine losing to him, I actually hear some people do, now that you remind me of him.
So yeah, Gundyr would be the first boss of DS3, but that just proves my point more. He doesn't demand complicated concepts like parry timings.
All real first bosses are
>Keep moving
>dodge attacks
>hit them when they're exposed / vulnerable / you have an opening.
All except The Father.
What are some good souls-style games? Playing Bloodborne made me fall in love with the whole 3rd person metrodvania kind of thing, and I want more to play once I'm done with all the other Souls games. Lords of the Fallen gets a lot of shit, is it just shitposting or actual hate?
