It wouldn't be nearly as bad and obnoxious as it is if Quiet wasn't so shoved down your throat. If you want to use her because of her abilities or whatever, you're forced to participate in an extremely cringy romance that doesn't really give you anything interesting
I'm not opposed to people liking her, or whatever, I obviously don't like her, but I understand that there's people that don't share that opinion and there's nothing wrong with such. I'm not saying I want the romance thingy to be removed, merely saying that it would be way better if there was also the option to use her without having to take part in her romance route. As it is now, it just feels incredibly forced (the scene where you recruit her, for example, with Snake extremely carefully and gently leaving her lying down in the helicopter and covering her despite her having tried to kill him merely minutes ago, or the rain scene, which just isn't for me, I guess) and plain stupid (like the forced drama about the niglet that lost his trinket while there was a fumigation or something. For some reason no one ever thought about just waiting a couple hours for the toxic fumes to disperse)
The fact that Mute Medic is also supposed to be a stand in of sorts for the player (Hell, it's why he's mute in the first place) only adds insult to injury, like Kojima took for granted everyone would absolutely fall in love with his perfect waifu.

The thing about her "romance" is it's just about her and what she felt. Venom doesn't contribute much to it so it's out of the players control.
She was a vengeful spirit (like a ghost, she left no traces: sweat, breath, words) Big Boss just wanted to ease her soul and turn her away from revenge like he wishes he could do for himself. It wasn't really love and she left because she lost her purpose for existing.
Medic is the player as they contribute to the series, Venom is an empty shell (an avatar), and Big Boss is the player with his experience of the past games. There is nothing that Venom did that Big Boss wouldn't have.
