Only real concern was how high 9 was ranked but everything else was about where it should be. If they swapped 9 and 7 I probably wouldn't have said anything at all.
It also would match what they were saying since 6 and 7 are essentially the same game as far as villains story and equipping magic to your characters.

But that is true. FF13 objectively did better than FF8. The grand majority of people don't like the Draw System. This is why it has never popped up in another game.
FF13 got an entire subseries which utilized the paradigm shift.

The paradigm system removes most of the player interaction during fights. You just set the paradigm and hit auto attack, and as long as you've scanned the creature or boss, it will pick the right moves for you. 8 on the other hand kept you engaged, and allowed for actual customization instead of that crystarium shit. Even when you unlock every job, you get only a minor increase in your ability to customize a character.
And they seemed happy to comment on how silly 8's plot was, but 13 gets a pass for mechanical gods trying to suicide themselves by hoping their slaves figure out what a dream about Ragnarok means.
