I honestly feel that if you don't get it, you probably couldn't get over the visual style in the field, you didn't finish it, you didn't really pay attention and took everything at surface level, or it was simply too subtle and flew over your head. One or many of those.
I've heard so much hype for 6 like this, but playing it before 7, that's bewildering and frustrating to hear. It must originate from some kind of outside or personal bias, it's completely ridiculous otherwise.

One of my favorite moments, if we're still on that topic, is Tifa, Cloud and Barret getting butt blasted about the endless stair case at Shinra HQ. It drags on just long enough to put you in their shoes and the higher you go up the more frequent they stop to catch their breath. It's so silly but I love it.

There's a Long Range materia in the cave after you cross the marsh. Make sure to get it as it lets you hit flying enemies as well as let a character do full damage from the back row.
Oh and make sure to level your All materia as Mastered ones are worth a good bit of money.
If you want the bonus EXP and Gil materia, look up a guide for Chocobo breeding as they can only be bought from Gold Saucer with GP, (until you master them and they birth an extra one)
