I like my textures upscaled. Games like XC and FF12 look great when you ditch that shitty 480 garbage.

Plus I lived through enough CRT years to not miss it at all. I don't need to jerk it to some faux nostalgia since I was actually around, you scanline wanting cocksucker.
>>
>>337623527
can't emulate an Xbox though.

if you don't have a modded ps2, wii and xbox then you're lower than dirt.
>>
>>337621784
I tried the last story on 29 and 20 inches crt and the font is so small and diffuse I could barely read whatever the fuck it says on the menus. Same with Xenoblade.

PC marginally improves both games. And no, I have perfect 20/20 vision.

Where's a good guide to hack vWii on a WiiU?
>>
>buy Wii at flee market
>hack it
>download like 20+ games
>only ever play Kirby

After a few months of not playing it I finally put it in my closet with all my other consoles. Something about pirating just makes me lose interest. Maybe because the games didn't cost me anything.

Wut? Why would you even list the ps2 and wii when the xbox is the only one that cant be emulated? Even MGS3 was fixed in hardware mode.

Emulating N64 on a Wii is even more painful than doing it on a PC.

At least with a PC you can hook up the original controller a little easier.

I'm in the verge of giving up.

RetroPi is awful. There's like no easy way to reorder the controllers you plugged into it. If you plugged in an Xbone controller first, but you want to use a Dualshock 3 because it's wireless, then you're fucked.

I heard Lakka is a lot simpler and plug and play but it has some outdated cores compared to RetroPi and there isn't a build specifically for RaspberryPi 3.

Getting a GameCube adapter to work for either of them is also a pain in the ass.
>>
>>337621784
Because even an used Wii is too expensive for me. I managed to find a 40€ one with broken dvd reader which is meaningless since I can load my pirated vidya from an USB, but then I would also need to buy 3 to 4 controls. And for some reason, wii controllers are fucking expensive. I'll keep my emulatan since it's already free

>>337621784
PC has superior stats, no need to risk your console by using unofficial software.

Besides, newer consoles are getting to the point of hacks being very difficult.

PSP: Put this on your memory stick and run it.
PS Vita: Okay download this, make sure you set up the email hacks, connect to your computer, you have to do this every 24 hours. (Literally...)

I think you mean 240p. Most wii emulators can output that, which is what those old consoles used. It's a very crisp picture and pixel art looks way better than on any modern display.
>>
>>337635264
It's your console's NAND backup, if you completely fuck up your wii by messing with system files you restore the NAND backup and you have your Wii again. Or setup the NAND so the Wii reads it off an external HDD so you don't have to touch anything on the Wii's flash memory. I really don't see a point in doing it since Wii's are so cheap and you won't be modifying too many system files.

You can also change the way the Wii boots, like booting into HBC, USB Loader GX ect.

I don't think there's much advantage for 3D games, but the old 2D games all use sprites specifically meant for display on a CRT and the scanlines make them look way better. You can't emulate the effect with anything less than a 4k lcd either.

That's a general issue with piracy/emulation. I've found setting rules for yourself regarding what you're allowed to play helps motivate you.

I always play my games with the rule that I have to finish it before moving onto the next, and if I'm playing a series for the first time I only play that series until I've had my fill. If I'm really not enjoying my time I'll break the rule, but taking the games one at a time and sticking with the games until the end makes you appreciate them similar to if you bought them.

for some reason snes9x-gx has a particular problem

performance with rotating sprites

this makes yoshi's island run unacceptably poorly whenever the super fx is used to rotate a sprite. every other super fx function works fine, even the 3d stuff but if there's a single rotated sprite on screen, framerates are cut in half

shame this port is never going to see another update

gave my wii to a buddy (not like I used it, I'd pop on S&P2 every once in a while and that was it), and I don't have a CRT anymore (tempted to go to Goodwill and see if they have one, playing shit on this crap-ass LCD I have is awful)

also, I can use whatever controller I want on PC, so I'm not dealing with the hilariously small Gamecube controller D-pad (which is pretty good and responsive actually, it's just too small to effectively use)

>>337624180
I got a RasPi 2 a while back to screw around with.
yeah, nah, shit's kind of useless
over HDMI, it's all the hassle of using my laptop to emulate, but with less performance and worse emulators

and it's not even like hooking it up over composite to a CRT is good idea (it's composite, so horizontal resolution is fucked because color bleed, it's 480i, so thin horizontal lines are fucked, enjoy your flicker)
hell, it's literally just a really shit computer -- fast enough to do arbitrary tasks (and semi-cheap -- you'll probably have everything you need to use it out of the box on-hand, like a keyboard, phone charger, hdmi cable, etc), but too slow to be useful if you have a proper machine

>>337628637
that's appalling
Like, is this why people say they can't react to shit in Sonic games these days?
Because you really can't with that much lag, you've already run into whatever you saw by the time you actually pressed jump, even if you hit it as soon as it came on screen.

Is this possible?

The Wii64 is the oddest emulator I've used before. Some games don't play right, like Bomberman 64 (but not heroes). Also I've had the weirdest issues with iddy Kong racing on it;
Adventure 1 runs just fine, but all Adventure 2 stages either give me a black or brown screen. In addition, even though the game lacks rubber banding, the cpu on Ancient Lake (no other stages for some reason) will cut through the stage and best me half the time.

Forgot to mention there are pre-builds in the zip, just go to the builds folder and rename the file of what ever system your using as boot.dol

I've heard of people running certain N64 VC wads in Dolphin and actually getting better results than the same rom in PJ64, but that's obviously not going to be the norm.

You likely COULD do that, but results would be poor.

You may be better off using the mGBA core in Retroarch; At the very least for better video scaling options. Last I checked, the standalone had some issues and 480i only.

Fucked up the Vga gx link

I will, thanks. Does it run textures and have better frames than Wii64 too? I couldn't play Chelan Twist 2 and Conker because of that.
>>
>>337655501
how do you make wii retroarch do 240p? I can't seem to find the option.
>>
>>337655317

Thanks, these all work for a WiiU?
>>
>>337656607
they should, but it's risky

From the main menu:
Settings->Video
From there, you run into a multitude of various settings that will affect the video output.

The massive issue with Retroarch is getting to output the proper resolution for a given system, at the correct aspect ratio. With systems that mainly stick to one resolution, that's fine, but stuff like the SNES and PCE that switch up a lot, sometimes even within the same game become a massive headache.

And for GB/GBC/GBA games, you have to do a decent amount more to get the games displayed correctly, 1:1 without scaling.
Spent a few hours some weeks ago to put this together.

Was using RA 1.3.3 at the time, but they should work exactly the same for 1.3.4 and any other version with the same settings and cores available.

>>337656678
In vWii, they -should- function the same as in a normal Wii, with the exception of the video scaling options for "Original" mode won't work. WiiU's video output bottoms out at 480i and won't do 240p.

Is this how it actually looks in the emulator or is there filters of some kind that you can tweak?
>>
>>337657561

Quite a few filters

May you please share what the settings are?
