So the most recent update for DS3 fucked up the game to where it freezes every 20 or so seconds. so whats a game to play while i wait for From to patch this shit?

I noticed this too. And the frames took a hit, I only get around 45 FPS in Firelink where I used to get 55-60. I wish they would put more effort into the optimization.

The controls are pretty much perfect though. There's a reason they didn't change them at all for 4 games straight.
I'm playing DS for the first time and got to the portrait level. Fourth guy to invade me was shitting damage with a flamethrower spell and some uber AoE explosion. Are these end-game pyros and how do I defend against it?
BTW I'm heavy armor black knight great-axe guy and absolutely anally devastated the first 3 invaders (2 or 3 shot them). Do I just upgrade shield to fire-proof?

They're good if you got accustomed to them at the time but for people who never touched the series before, it's going to be very awkward.
I tried to get a friend to play the game and it took him hours to wrap his head around it.
After this patch I get some fps drops and random stuttering.
The worst thing I have had so far though is it completely broke multiplayer for me.
If I try to summon, or get summoned, I crash 100% of the time.
I've also not got invaded by anyone, even though I tried idling around a bonfire for 10-15 minutes.

The thing preventing him from staggering is probably just the hyper armor from his weapon. NPCs don't have poise.
And armor doing nothing is a good thing. There shouldn't be any reason to wear one armor over another apart from appearance. All From needs to do now is to remove weight from armor, then we can finally let the true fashion souls begin.

DaS3 made strength weapons more powerful than ever by tying the unstaggerable state to weapons instead of armor. I don't know what you're upset about. Dex users won't ever be able to tank a hit in 3 unless they really like the Astora Greatsword. Compare that to DaS1 where dexfags could run around with a rapier and leo ring in full Havel's and counter poke with impunity.

Let me tell you a story that should illustrate average Japanese understanding of computers, /v/.
I teach English at 3 schools, two middle and one elementary. Thinking I could save time I bring my laptop to school to do worksheets. Bearing in mind I have no idea what their wireless log in shit and I'm not connected to the school network in any way.
The school calls my company and tell them that they're concerned they'll get viruses from my laptop. I explain that I was connected to the school network in any way and I was only using Word to make worksheets. They tell me that viruses can come from any computer so being connected to a network is irrelevant.
They actually think a computer virus is like a human virus.
Bearing this in mind are your surprised when Japanese PC ports are shit and have terrible netcode?

Then explain how if I hit a Cathedral Knight with a great axe from the side, it doesn't stagger him, but I'm able to "break" his hyper armor if done during an attack. Similar to the Witches in Undead Settlement, if they cast their burning embrace spell, they can take 1 hit, but not 2 from any source. And yet Hyper Armor gives you immunity to stuns during animations. It acts like Poise.

Some schools have smartboards. At mine one middle school only uses computers in the computer room and the teachers use school computers in the staff room. The other is a little more progressive and some teachers use tablets/smart phones hooked up to a TV but there's no meaningful integration.
At the elementary they use the school laptops hooked up to the TV in conjunction with the DVD with came with the textbook. That said only two of them use an HDMI cable to hook it directly to the TV so the sound is from the TV. The others use a VGA cable into some shitty hub that doesn't work for sound so the visual is on the TV and sound from the laptop.

Cathedral knights are a class above players and player sized enemies. They have poise in the same sense that crystal lizards and crocodile dogs have poise.
The reason you can stagger enemies out of certain attacks is because hyper armor isn't active during startup frames. It only protects them (and you, if you use heavy weapons) if the attack is timed properly so that the actual attack begins before you take a hit. This is how hyper armor works in virtually every fighting/action game.
