The Serious Sam games have awful level design and enemy placement. I don't know how the fuck some people enjoy them.

For full disclosure, I have played Doom(s) and am a big fan of Quake, but have never played Serious Sam.

They're a mixed bag. TFE and TSE are great. They're big areas filled with secrets and the enemy placement makes managing the hordes fun.
Sam 3 has several good levels, several terrible levels and a lot of mediocre ones.
