i stopped playing to wait for big updates that prompted a fresh playthrough but i don't think anything like that has happened yet
The 1.0 is practically done, they are just chasing bugs. It finally looks like the game they promised three years ago... Three years late.
I bought the game 2 months ago, so I don't have any butthurt, actually I have hype, but I can understand how name people are disappointed at the game.

they have been spending a few months writing code to add more interesting dungeons that spawn in the universe.
more weapon mechanics for specific weapon types
space wizards
space bounty hunter +quests to find/kill people out in the universe
upgrade tree for matter manipulator (kind of like those legendary wow weapons)
crew ships cleaned up a bit, can hire ask people to join your crew
uh...the actual storyline is almost done i think

Right now it's better than Terraria.
