ME2 made it clear the story would be a mess so I never got my hopes up. I'm just glad I was smart enough to wait and was able to enjoy the Citadel/Leviathan DLCs + updated ending on my first playthrough, and that Liara and Garrus were still well written squaddies.
The multiplayer was pretty fun, too.

I used to play ME1/2 every year or so because I love the concept of a space opera RPG. Since ME3 released I have yet to replay them again. It retroactively killed my interest in the first two games. I'll watch reviews of ME:A and consider buying if people who's opinions I generally agree with review it positively. Big part of Mass Effect was the choices you could make and how they'd affect later stuff.
Giant climax turns out to not involve any of it. You could've been the best Shepard or the worst and it wouldn't have mattered, you could still get the "good" or "bad" or "whatever" ending.
Initially, I didn't mind the ending. I enjoyed it in the same way I enjoyed the Human Revolution ending; you take an action, the game doesn't tell you much about what happens next, instead it comes down to what you've seen of the world and what you think will happen.
...then I discovered there was a 'green' ending that required extra work and was obviously superior to the other two options.
