>PSO2 will never happen outside of Japan because Sega is run a bunch of hate-filled xenophobic cunts who hate money

as much as that is true, that's not the real reason.

PSO2 has a shit ton of promotion content in Japan for anime and other Japan exclusive products, this would cause licensing issues overseas. In addition, localized content would be way behind the Japanese version just like PSO and PSU. Content that Japanese players were doing didn't hit the states until 6+ months later.
>>
>>337419761
It will always bother me that the first four .hack games decided to emulate itself to be shit like Everquest instead of Phantasy Star Online.

The styling and theme was just so much closer to it.
>>
>>337420649
I have yet to see a PSO game without issues.
>>
>>337420898

So does that excuse PSO2 having fundamentally damaged core gameplay thanks to being a F2P mmo?
>>
>>337420510
No, no, see, PSU was SEGA hating money.
PSO2 is them acknowledging they've fucked over the US base so badly that we don't want it anymore.
Anyone who really wanted to play PSO2 has been playing on the Japan servers for years now.
>>
>>337420510
The top two reasons are likely 1. Sega of America is bare bones af now and doesn't really give a shit anymore. And 2. Probably 50% or more of the game's visual content would have to be stripped out because the licensing for like the literal dozens of anime crossovers and shit would be an outright nightmare, even more so considering reason 1.

Man I wanted to like this game so bad, gave it so many chances, but it just doesn't scratch that old itch. Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity is pretty nice, though.

>>
>>337421137
Which part of it is fundamentally damaged and in what way? Especially because of F2P?
>>
>>337417608
How do you get PSO2 to look like this?
>>
>>337421137
>thanks to being a F2P mmo
Eh, PSO2's problems really aren't a result of F2P, they actually avoided most of the common errors made when trying to create pay incentive for players. Pretty much all the big pay items are cosmetics. And the game isn't competitive so even if you were trying to roll for good gear, there's no real reason to worry about min-maxing.
>>
>>337420510
As much as this is true, the real jews are the people who own the rights to the animes PSO2 does crossover with. Even if it released here it would be missing A LOT of costumes (which is the real meat of the game) because anime publishers are jews.

>fate, ggxrd, blazblue, 7th dragon, etc etc
>>
>>337421424
I remember that, so shitty.

Another thing that I remember but many people didn't catch onto was there was a way to lock someone out from playing online in the Gamecube version using a proxy trick involving someones IP address. When the victim tries to connect to the same ship as the proxy user, the victim's console will immediately crash.

There was no way to get around this other than playing on a different ship or waiting for the exploiter to log off. Sega never fixed it if I can recall and they couldn't do anything about it if you called their customer service or assaulted their support forums.
>>
>>337420898
I was part of the QA team on PSO:BB, the reason there are so many issues with PS games is because Sonic Team never fucking listened. They knew about the asyinc issues between client and server that cause random Mag stat changes and de-evolution, random latent damage stack errors, and the unknow green item bug long before the game went tp launch. It's why a lot of people said 'no' when they wanted us back on for PSU QA.

>>
>>337417608

>>
>>337421469

Well it might a bit of an exaggeration but the game just has a lot of design choices that just irk the shit out of me.

The entire Emergency Quest system is basically there to strongarm you into constantly checking 3rd party sites for upcoming events, and punishing you for not being online and in a block when they come up (but of course you get a better chance of getting in if you've got premium!), besides basically being the game's only "real" content that also gets stale after the first dozen times because they're all designed to always be beatable regardless of your party composition unless everyone's gear sucks total shit.

Not to mention this is all also designed to feed you items at about a fucking eyedropper's rate, where 95% of what you get will be nothing but Excube fodder which maybe puts you 2% closer to actually accomplishing something, while the other 4.9% will just be shit you throw on the player market to sell (only if you have premium of course), and the last .1% is something you might actually use.
>>
>>337420510
>Just look at how they fucked up with literally everything

fixed that for you famicom
>>
>>337422730
>they're all designed to always be beatable regardless of your party composition unless everyone's gear sucks total shit.
This is my only real problem with the game.
There's no real reason to put any real effort into building your character or customizing their mag/stats/gear a specific way. You can play with a mag maxed for a hunter, as a force and still do absolutely fine. At that point why even worry about stats?
This is less "this game is too easy" and more "The character building aspects of this game barely effect anything".
>>
>>337422730

As for Premium, it seems to really be there so that playing the game without it is like walking with your legs cut off at the shins. Sure, with some effort you could do it, but it won't be fun or pretty. The game simply strips too many conveniences away from you either to only allow them after you buy the premium sub, or to charge you for it in some way besides.

Oh and I love the new gathering shit they added, naturally with a stamina system that you either wait to refill or pay real money to refill faster.

The AC scratches frankly burn my ass as well. Its not enough that the vast majority of the character customization options are hiding behind a paywall (and let's face it playing space dress up is like 90% of the game), you also have to draw a fucking gachapon to MAYBE get something worth a little money. Except more often than not you'll draw some worthless accessory or a male costume worth bottom fucking dollar and you'll just walk away disappointed.

>>337423102

Oh I especially love how every fight is also designed around the idea that the group will have a Weak Bullet because of how much a damage boost it provides. Now they're stuck with it and Rangers will never get any better because of it.

>>
>>337424062

And I love how totally fucked that is. Ranger is a total shit class to play except for the one gimmick they bring to a group, so people have to play them so that groups have one so doing the EQ isn't like pulling teeth.

Really, really good game design.

I don't exactly understand this point. Gear check in a fast-paced game like PSO2 is cancer, how is not having it bad? Yes, you can beat a quest that requires competence, like MBD2, with an S rank without endgame gear if you and the rest of the players know what you are doing.

Low drop rates are not exactly new to online RPGs, things not dropping is what's supposed to make you keep coming back. I don't exactly like it, but that's the reality I've been facing since a certain online action RPG that I could only play alone on Gamecube. PSO2 also has a playerbase several times as large as PSO, so low drop rates in the time when you could simply buy a reasonably strong weapon were there to not overflow the market and make everything cost 1,000 meseta.

Yeah, the whole EQ system is bad, but what would the alternative even be? The way the game works right now, they are special occasions that give sizable rewards for participation. Make all endgame gear accessible at all times, and people will run the most optimal quests for whatever is required for their setup. No need to go too far for examples: TTF and Limiter parties in PSO, optimized lobby routes in PSU and the newest Ultimate and XH areas in the past half a year in PSO2. It's artificial variety, which (along with dripfeed) may as well be the only way to force it in a game like this if Sega's past 15 years are of any indication.

Late response because of MBD4 EQ.

If there's essentially no risk of failure what's even the point of the quest to begin with? Its just a chore you breeze through so you can get your bag full of garbage and be on your way. And of course its likely that, because there's almost zero chance groups won't finish quests, they have to make the good drops astronomically rare to compensate for how often you'll be rolling the chance for them to drop. Of course with the EQ system as it is now if bosses were actually hard and actually failable outside of mouthbreather conventions, that would only piss off a ton of people because you only get maybe one chance every couple days (not even taking into account the chance you might be busy next time it comes up), and it would entirely fuck up the entire way the game's flow of loot is designed.

To really be honest the entire modern MMO system of "dripfeed" progression makes me want to fucking puke. All of it is just designed to keep milking you for a sub fee or to keep buying premium/cash shop garbage. Just massive blackholes that suck up an infinite amount of free time to get essentially nothing in return.

Imagine trying to fill up a 10 gallon bucket with water, using only a thimble. Only the bucket also has a small hole in the bottom. That's how I view pretty much every MMO that exists right now.

>If there's essentially no risk of failure what's even the point of the quest to begin with?
I assume it's to promote PUGs over secluded parties, since the opposite of the problem is a risk of failure you have no control over unless you play a massive online game with a very small group of people. It's gone to an extreme in the Profound Darkness quest, but you don't even get the shitter buff if your multiparty area is fast enough. Overall, the difficulty of the game fluctuates from requiring a lot of competence in Challenge and solo Extreme quests to being nearly impossible to fail, like PD. Or even actually impossible to, when fighting Magatsu Sai.

Japs are less interested in going out with gaijins than they used to be. The beta was amazing for it, and the only other time we could have fun again was when extreme quest was first added. Though PS4 version also brought in some new players who haven't been burned yet.

And I see more spanish and portuguese players who seem to rival players from B-20/01 these days.

Is double cannon still complete fucking bullshit to get? Gotta love how they lock my favorite weapon behind some dumb shit quest that only shows up whenever it feels like every few days. I want to fucking grind weeks for my drop it's bad enough that way instead you get like 3 chances per week. What horseshit drop design

No it's just the initial thought of if back in it was announced

>Guys we know you English players want Pso2 in English, so we at Sega are going do just that and give it to a region were English speakers are near non existent.

How is that a wise business decision

Fuckin kek! Reminds me of when I tried to play that Phantasy Star Portable on PSP
>game has been out for a while when I played it
>expected the online to be dead already but tried it anyway
>get surprised that there was still several rooms filled with people
>every fucking room I entered people were just talking instead of doing quests

I always found that weird because it was so populated and yet no one was actually playing.
But to be fair sometimes it was fun to talk between missions. Felt like a real squad thing.

PSU was like that for some reason. We like to say PSO2 is a lobby game, but PSU was that almost literally.

There's item storage on the ship. Type /bank in chat to switch between character storage and account storage (accessible from all your characters).

Don't bother holding onto low level junk you can't use though, if it ain't red it's better off dead.

I bought Zero, and I enjoyed it.

I just wished I could have played it with others.
