The Tortanic was a success initially. 10/10 scores everywhere and fanboys praising it to the moon and back.

The client updates the server at 60Hz, both the server and client simulate at 60Hz, and the server updates the client at 20Hz.

A client tickrate of 20 means you receive information from the server every 48ms. If you already have a ping of 50, this increases your ping to ALMOST 100 which can fuck up your shots monumentally.

As he said himself increasing the tickrate to 60 would improve the average delay by up to a third of a tenth of a second. That is not perceivable by anyone.

As for the explanation of why you're getting shot through walls watch Blizzard's explanation of their own netcode. It has also been tweaked since the beta this guy tested.

Improving tickrate doesn't eliminate normal lag and normal lag that all MP games have is the real killer.
