3DS has way better first party Nintendo games than the DS had. Nintendo's first party lineup on DS included schlock like starfox command and touchscreen zelda games. Mario 64 DS is a must-have though.

The 3DS library is objectively the worst.
It had a drastic die off in its early years due to performing poorly.
It's basically a console now that panders to demographics for sales, and offering nothing innovative or new, just mediocre sequels to better games.
The DS, for example, had a ton of original games that were stylistic rather than shitty 3D art at 240p.

3DS has Shinobi 3D, that alone probably puts it on top of the DS 3rd party wise for me. Sonic Colors and Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy are spectacular, the best etrian Odyessy games are probably on 3DS, and of course we cant forget monster hunter, SMTIV, the last few Way Forward games and Senran for people into that.
I just wish 3DS got a new Izuna game and Trauma Centerthe latter of which really should have gotten a WiiU game, such a waste

Serves me right though, I bought it for Megaman Legends 3, and the promise of more titles like Revelations. Instead, I got fucking nothing but ports, children's games, mediocre JRPGs like Bravely Default, and half assed Nintendo titles.
I think it had a good start, but NIntendo consoles seem to give a vibe of getting worst with inconsistency. The Wii U, for example, did a similar thing. I'm wary of Nintendo consoles in general now.

EO4 was great, but I think they over did it, as there is little separation between the titles, even EO5 seems to be featureless beyond simple aesthetics.
SMT4 is the worst SMT game, honestly, and wayforward games are on everything.
I think the 3DS has really all around nothing worth anyone's time when it comes to 3rd party stuff. You can basically skip all of those and not really miss out on anything.
