Just try shit in FCs, get out of your comfort zone. I tried Black Blade because it was an arbitrary Quality weapon, and I ended up liking it more than the intended weapon for that build.

I really liked my bleed playthrough with the warden's twin blades. Drang hammers are also kind of fun because they stagger better than most dual weapons. I really fucking liked how crossbows work in 3 though and if DLC adds either power stance or some kind of dual crossbow those will probably be my favorite.
Most of the weapons feel like shit because of how stagger works. I thought the Great Scythe would let me relive the days of mai weaponfu, the Lifehunt Scythe, but I was dead wrong. Holy shit it's so bad.

There's two carthus sword skellies near the bonfire that drop them, they're not the easiest to farm but they drop them frequently enough if you have gold serpent ring
Great Corvian Scythe. It's hot shit compared to other, faster or slower weapons, but it has my favorite moveset. It's a shame it does piss-awful damage and doesn't have near enough Bleed buff even with Carthus Rouge to properly trigger it in PVP.
Can anyone help with a decent pyro build which also makes good weapon damage?

Chaos Infusion Astora Great Sword, 40/40 Int/Faith, 16/18 Str/Dex, 3 Attunement.
Great Chaos Fire Orb and whatever other spell you want. A Scaling on that shit means you're looking at over 500 damage with the sword and free Hyper Armor.
A very great but little known weapon. Works great given the current meta game, but you don't see a lot of people using it. Weapon art has an incredibly good lunge everyone underestimates too.

Tears and Sacred both take 2 slots. Many people don't know you can stack Sacred and Deep if you cast them in the right order.
You'd probably see more interesting Faith stuff if Blue Covenants weren't borked and everybody could get the first rank.

Really their lack or range is the real issue. You can be zoned out by anyone. The spin is great, but it's only in place. If you can land hits with them, the sellsword twinblades are great, but when using them I found most people got used to that real fast and realized their range made them easy to zone out.

Maybe we just do have a mutual disconnect, because great class and up are fucking amazing. They really reward a more defensive playstyle where you hit and dive away. If you can get a follow up that's great, but the excessive damage for one hit with what is pretty decent recovery speed and large threat range makes you dangerous as fuck. Faster weapons tend to need to dig in to get damage, but one hit from a big enough sword will make anyone poop in their socks. You don't need to expose yourself unless you are absolutely sure, and people aren't going to rush you down cause you'll just punish that too.
I've been trying really hard to get used to other weapons because I don't really want to use them myself.Fighting other great/ultra users is really fucking annoying as a great/ultra user. You have no idea.

I had used the Black Knight Greataxe for so long and thought it was amazing. Then I tried this thing out and it really is quite fun to use, mostly due to how fucking hilariously op this thing is.

If you hit the r2 (I think it's unparryable), its almost a guaranteed kill on people due to the full combo. Spin to win with the noob weapon and have some fun. Also its running attack is quite useful.

I haven't leveled it at all. Started with pyro and prisioner's chain plus FaP is more then enough for me, it depends only on how well you manage it and what weapon you use. Only need to upgrade if you use heavy stamina usage ones.

I think you're making a small mistaken assumption. Its R1 to WA combos perfectly. You can't escape it once you get hit. You will take the full damage.
Big weapons are amazing though I will agree. I think the Curved GSs are the best though. Like Carthus Great Sword and Exile Greatsword. Spiked Mace too.

Maybe I should try them again. I've been practicing with faster weapons more recently. I just find slower weapons easier to win with by far, for some reason. Probably some innate sense of timing, or I'm not a naturally aggressive enough player.
Though really I'm most interested in getting spears to function in PVP cause I just like spears. So far they feel a bit.. lacking somehow.

Spears. The ones that I know are good are Drang Spears and that spear that does a lunge into a lightning something.
I dunno, I like Halberds more than the spears.
If you are better in using slow weapons then that's that. GSs are great anyway. Especially those that have good sweeping R1s or those that have combos.
