Dear /v/.
What would you say about person with such games as the ones with most played hours on Steam?
And what would you suggest to play for that person?
>>337356329
I'd say you might like Shadowrun or Pillars of Eternity.
>>337356504
He played newest Shadowrun games, but never got Pillars, because of how gameplay vids and user reviews described combat as really bad, obsessed with "balance" instead of fun.
Anybody else?
Yikes, I never realised how much of a casual I amto be fair, I haven't played most of these games in over a year or more
Please respond ;_;

Stalker
Arx Fatalis

>>337356830
Then tell "him" that these people don´t have a clue.
>What would you say about person with such games as the ones with most played hours on Steam?
That "he" is mentally more healthy than anyone who puts thousands of hours into a single game.
>>337361368
>mostly casual shit
I dont see anything casual over here. Did you expected 2k hours in pro mlg 420 Dota or what?
Besides,1k hours means something like 16 months of everyday playing. Im pretty sure that every sane person would get overfed with playing same game for 500-800 hours, not to mention 1-2k.
>>337361874
>16 months of everyday playing
That's a weird way of saying it
It could be 20 years of playing or like 1.5 months
>Im pretty sure that every sane person would get overfed with playing same game for 500-800 hours, not to mention 1-2k
There are a shit ton of people that have that many hours in ASSFAGGOTSs
Also everyone that played an MMORPG actively for a while will have that many hours
>DS 2
>F:NV
>EL

>CS:GO
>TF2
>Civ V
>that weird TCG
>not casual
>>337362175
>New Vegas, Endless Legend, Valkyria Chronicles, MTG clone
>"casual"
Wow.
>It could be 20 years of playing or like 1.5 months
1,5 month for 1k hours would mean 22 hours per day. That would kill anybody after few days due to lack of sleep and proper movement and you know it.
20 years from time to time sounds a lot more reasonable, but Steam is not that old.
>>337361185
Modded civ doesn't allow for achievements, even if you play with just the vanilla factions.
>>337362175
Name some non casual games then.
Well, /v/?
>>337362175
I'm not sure what you consider casual, but my definition is the kind of people who only play yearly release franchises and mobile games, and I'm willing to bet that audience hasn't even heard of 90% of those games, nor would they ever play them.

I know, but I usually open it while I'm watching a movie or something and check it occasionally when I lose focus on the movie. I often end up leaving it on overnight and not realising till the next day when I get home from work, so that's probably half of those hoursnot that it's much of an excuse
>>337363234
>iirc you can survive on 3 hours of sleep
At the cost of randomly getting asleep during the activity and increasing chance for developing mental disorder.
Sure worth playing dem vidya games.
>>337363208

Sounds like the souls series

2015

You actually want me to believe casuals only know one of these games?
Civ, CS, TF, FL, DS are all well known game
>>337363662
I am just trying to say that you can't say that 1000 hours will take X days/months/years
>>337361368

>>337356329

>>337364001

>>337363841
>>337363670
I honestly can't tell if you're doing this just to stir up a reaction or you are actually this mad about what games other people play. OP's games are far from the really cancerous games that are killing the industry.
TF2 is probably the worst offender, but it's F2P so you can't really blame a guy for playing it.
how's it look fellas
>>337364332
Where exactly did I talk about the industry
I am just saying you are factual wrong
>>337364460
I'm bored so I'll keep biting. I'm mostly assuming you're the same guy throughout this whole thread calling every game casual except obscure simulator and nitpicking every argument.
I was assuming you hated these games so much because you consider them casual and are ruining the industry like most of /v/, and I was trying to say they weren't really that bad compared to the myriad of shit on the market. Also who the fuck cares if 10% of 14 is 1.4, it was just my way of saying most casual gamers wouldn't know a lot of OP's games, and by that I mostly mean 10 year old COD babbies and the like
>everyone on /v/ is a casual and thinks that 1,000 hours is a lot
>>337364927
>I was assuming
Now I am going to assume:

TF2 used to be "buy to play", provided with orange box.
>>337363753
I would, assume most probable avarage playtime of 2 hours per day.
>>337367929
>>337367929
And why do you think that the average person on /v/ plays video games for two hours per day?
>>337368350
because he does and sees that as "normal"
I play 4-6 on work days and more on weekends, this guy is just a casual
>>337368350
Because thats the most probable situation. One might play for 12 hours during sunday, but cant play at all during most of the week due to work/studies/whatever.
People playing more than 8 hours per day on regular basis are actually rare enough to be skipped.
>>337368538
>People playing more than 8 hours per day on regular basis are actually rare enough to be skipped.
That's not how statistics work
>It's the average but only when you exclude this group
>>337368632
>>337368759
I don't see how that picture relates to what I just said
>The average gamer plays for more than two hours if you exclude people that play less than two hours
>They don't count because I said so
This is why your argument is shit
>>337363389
Ive got double that at the moment, and i work 32hours a week
>>337368632
No, I just said that such people are so marginal that their avarage gameplay time does not affect most probable avarage gameplay time.
For example, if you had group of 1000 people, where 600 would play for 2 hours per day, 200 would play for less than hour, 150 would play 4 and 50 would play 10, those 50 would contribute little to avarage and even less to median.
>>337368885
>everyone on 4chan is one person
I'M AGREEING WITH YOU, YOU FUCKING MORON
I already feel the missile inbound.
>>337368632
>That's not how statistics work.

>>337369318
>>337369392
>>337369148
Well since you have sources readily available stating how many hours the average /v/ user plays post them
Oh wait you are just assuming(and doing a terrible job at it)
>>337369274
I still don't see how the picture relates to anything said
>>337356329
Good taste for the most part but probably an annoying meme-sprouting asshole. Either that or someone who acts cool around you and then judges your tastes behind your back on his favorite imageboard.
He probably acts like an expert on video games but the depth of his criticism and analysis is usually "this game is shit" and when pressed his reasons are the same as the /v/-approved YouTube video. Essentially someone who can grasp the basics of taste and understanding good games but lacks the creativity and true understanding of what makes a good game. He is a man who is a carbon-copy of the /v/-hivemind that is one iota better than the triple-a sheep but nowhere close to being a decent human being. He lacks subtlety in his political opinions, is terrified of being challenged in his viewpoints, and believes his opinion is always right even if he lies and says it's not.
And above all what matters most to him is the approval of others. Which is why he will forever be a slave to the flow of things.
>>337369556
It's all about the zombies mode.
Also, I still have to get my Dark Souls III hours past one hundred. I've been doing a lot of coop with someone new to the game as well as endgame bosses. Once NG+ and on starts, it'll truly begin.
>>337369325
>In estimation theory and decision theory, a Bayes estimator or a Bayes action is an estimator or decision rule that minimizes the posterior expected value of a loss function (i.e., the posterior expected loss).
>Estimation theory is a branch of statistics that deals with estimating the values of parameters based on measured/empirical data that has a random component.
>measured/empirical data
>>337363887
What's your budget? I'd recommend Stellaris, it's new and fairly decent. Consider The Legends of Eisenwald. It's kinda obscure, so your friend most likely doesn't have it.
>>337370050
Oh great, we've got a highschool faggot on our hands here, who thinks he has anything but an extremely rudimentary understanding.
And then you go on to quote a few things to imply you do have an understanding, here's a stout reminder: You don't.
You said excluding data isn't statistics, yet you completely forgot that the "average" isn't the only means of aggragation and that there are multiple forms of aggragation out there which purpose in the first place is to, did you guess it yet? Yes, to exclude meaningless data.
So let's just quote you here, when you said:
>That's not how statistics work.
You were flat out wrong, nothing more to be discussed, I'm out.
>>337370247
I finished Highschool years ago and I had to take statistic/math classes in college
>I'm out.
Good
>>337369697
Yes, Im assuming. And given that /v/ is not composed in 100% of neets, instead covering little more "nerdy" but still similar in composition to your "normal" people group, given that they have to attend to school, study or go to work for living, 2 hours per day is really the most probable avarage time.
If you would take total players, it would be even lower (like in http://www.statista.com/statistics/186960/time-spent-with-videogames-in-the-us-since-2002/ )
>>337370525
An "average U.S. consumer" has nothing to do with /v/
>>337370098
Thank you.
>>337370641
And why you think that?
/v/ is not some secret club for neets since at least few years. Large part of posters are actually like avarage consumer.
>>337370926
The US accounts for less than 50% of the 4chan traffic
>Large part of posters are actually like avarage consumer.
Doubt but you are free to prove me wrong
>>337371486
And you think that remaining 50% are full time neets that play for 8 hours per day?
Even if they would all play for 6 avarage (very unlikely), it would still result in 3 hours per day.
>>337372003
>And you think that remaining 50% are full time neets that play for 8 hours per day
You are assuming(wrongly) again
>>337372342
And how should I? Share your vast wisdom.

I am not even OP but why did you even bothered typing all this shit my fedora tipping friend?
>>337369868

Actually I dont. If it would be, I would play /v/ approved games like Dark Souls 1 over 2, Dota 2 and such.
