The Yakuza series basically took everything it tried to do and improved on it.
The only reason people care about Shenmue is either the voice acting or the memes.
Nintendo is really interested in getting Yakuza on their platforms, so it's possible they may be interested in getting involved.

Well if you like Yakuza exclusively for it just being a beat em up, Shenmue may not be for you.
But if you also liked Yakuza for the story and exploration as well, then you will probably like Shenmue.
Looking at gameplay does not do it justice. You have to play the game in order to enjoy it. Mostly because you need the imerrsion to fully enjoy the game.

Depends on what you want out of it. The story's nice but the main appeal, at least to me, is just getting lost in the world for a bit. It feels more real than pretty much anything else on the market, 1 moreso. Imagine playing Yakuza but instead of getting into random battles with gangs you can just enjoy the town and seeing the sights.Earthbound is shit

It all depends really.
I mean, lets say Sega wanted to make a new Skies of Arcadia. Reiko Kodama still works for Sega as far as I can tell and if they got the team behind Valkyria Chronicles or even the current team's that make her games, you could bet that would be good.
Sega would just need to, for once, not act stupid and choose the right people for the job. I'm sure if you told a creator of a game that you're making it again, they'd jump at the opportunity to be part of it.
