Is there a game where the combat is like pokemon or final fantasy, but I don't have to run around a large open world in-between fights?
I really enjoy that kind of combat and want a game I can just play 10mins of here and there and do a bunch of fights, get some levels, get some gear or whatever.

They do have open world but it's not as important as in Pokemon

I'd also suggest Dragon Warrior Monster. If you like old school pixelshit, try emulating for the Game Boy. Otherwise try the ones for the DS.

theres room for a story, just present me with the story though, walking around in these maps serves as filler, thats why i never played a 2nd play through in any pokemon game, i don't care about all the nonsense in-between the fighting and whats going on.
