I think Roche's story is much more relevant overall, but Iorveth's is more interesting. It doesn't matter because you need both for complete understanding of the story either way.

I picked Iorveth because in the spur of the moment, I felt going after Letho immediately was better than settling things in town. Best choice overall because Iorveth side has the better quests in act 2 and better location

Went with Broche because he is not an emo terrorist. That said:
- He uses you to ambush Iorveth while the two of you are trying to capture Letho. As a result Letho escapes and starts the whole Act2/3 clusterfuck.
- Tries to undermine Henselt while being a guest at Kaedweni camp and gets his whole squad murdered as a result. That was really fucking stupid.

You mean Flotsam? Yeah, I'm stuck there too. I've played the prologue a few times, killed the Kayran a few times, but never went onwards after that. It felt a little off as a whole, you escape prison to hunt down some punk who framed you, then all of a sudden you're killing monsters like you've got nothing better to do. I like how Geralt can bully people tho, he's a good character.
