I'd love a proper, end-game swamp area that's just miserable and horrid beyond all reason, it would make it all the sweeter when you leave. Valley of Defilement did this to an extent.

Currently swamps are always relegated to mid-game areas and it means they're balanced for unprepared people but they're a breeze otherwise.

My issue with Farron Keep in DS3 is when you look at its concept art, it was obviously planned to be darker, more atmospheric and have more color, but this was scrapped in a typical DS2 fashion.

Beast bosses randomly flailing in front of them instead of properly telegraphic what attack follows, so you can make the decision to risk it or not, and make the reflex check to dodge away.

All damage in Dark Souls games should be avoidable. ALL DAMAGE SHOULD BE AVOIDABLE.
