Evolve had a ridiculous amount of hype on launch but proceeded to tank hard because it was junk.
Battleborn had zero hype, but at the same time it's not Evolve and at its core is pretty decent. Time will tell, though.

There are dozens of status effects to signify, half of which don't even have a ui indicator as much as your chararacter verbally saying something about it. The ones that do only take up a small peripheral part of your vision and the kill indicator only lasts a second.
All of these don't do any thing to block any critical information nor your aim, so long as you have even the slightest semibalance of situational awareness or look at your minimap it won't block your vision of anyone in those areas as well.

I can agree with you there, I like to turn off viewmodels when possible but it only seems to be there for characters with big guns, not to mention a fairly gracious fov slider can help make up for it. It you think it's blocking your sight then do the usual thing and aim slightly down to keep it from blocking it

Once people figure out that Battleborn =/= Overwatch, they'll gravitate towards BB as a different game.

Evolve didn't have to compete with Activision Blizzard marketing. Though, this probably has longer legs than Evolve could ever have.
Either way, Evolve is still supported. Battleborn will probably be playable until the second one comes out.
