I completed all 3 games without reading a single bit of lore or listening to any characters speaking, you expect me to sit around and listen to you talk for ages and it's not even a cutscene?

No these games have no story but the first game had an interesting set-up that has been imitated with less success by the later games.
Dark Souls 1 gives you the main objective and then all the backstory is there to be discovered. You're supposed to learn about the world, contemplate the significance of your quest, and then decide whether or not linking the fire is the right thing to do.
Dark Souls 2 takes place in another interesting setting but your character literally cannot remember why they're questing and everything feels even more nonsensical.
I absorbed nothing of Dark Souls 3 and I still have no idea what happened, if anything happened at all. DS2 & 3 are still amazing for the gameplay.
