For actually getting hit, a lot of Rockstar games show better animations in regards to people. How people are affected when they are killed in this video does not look much more complex than a lot of standard ragdoll physics. If they wanted to show it off properly, then they really should have done a shot by shot comparison for a lot of methods instead of showing something that is far from revolutionary.

The same goes for a lot of the destruction they later show. It's not bad, but it's nothing too different from older games like Timesplitters and F.E.A.R. that had a lot of little bits of TECHNOLOGY and great physics engines.

The real impressive bit is how foliage reacts. Not too many games do it properly, so it's great to see how it seems to react the right way to the environment. The only thing that really comes to mind that does it better is Crysis, which isn't really a dig at UC4. Anything that can move foliage better than Crysis is something that will need to be 100% submersed in water to keep the computer from melting its parts.

Overall, not half bad, but par for the course. If Uncharted 4 can show that this kind of stuff is worth dipping down to 30FPS for, then it will be great if that influences devs to bring it back to PC at 60FPS so we don't have to play 15 year old games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the same level of physics.

It's fun to run in like a madman, kill a few doods and then disappear off into the bushes. As you pick off more of the enemies they get more and more frantic.
The larger areas make for much better encounters and the ai is good at using the space to flank around and surround you if you stay in one place too long.

killzone's AI is great. Its at least as good as fear, definitely better than halo.
It scales well with difficulty too, higher difficulty doesn't just add shitloads of health and make you take more damage.

I would love a re release of Skyward Sword without the motion controls. I couldn't play the game because of a Neurological problem. Holding a wii mote steady is something that I'm never going to be able to do. I like the character design quite a bit too. Maybe one day.

Alright I just gone done putting a few hours into this game and I really, really wish this game wasn't the subject of platform wars. People toss around the >movie game meme far too frivolously and carelessly and it's reductive and undeserved. It's as if people despertaely and probably seriously think the quality of this game is synonsmous with a game like Assasins Creed, as if it's something you can just replicate or a cheap experience you can get by flicking through your steam catlaouge and selecting some other game.

This isn't your average AAA game by any stretch of the imagination and I wish people would realize this. This doesn't blow it's load within the first hour and fizzle out into mediocrity like any other run of the mil game, it has great progression and it knows how to take it's time before it cums on you and it's refreshing to see that being done. The story isn't regulated to a Geralt-like character who folds his arms who occasionally sways from side to side in an otherwise static display of performance that steadily pushes a mildly interesting dialogue to initiate yet another trail quest, the characters in this game are so much more alive, they are believable, they have personality, charisma and charm and the voice acting is miles head. You can't help but empathize and become immersed in them from the moment you lay eyes on them and feel inclined to follow them on what feels like an actual adventure instead of fetch quest.

Now with that being said this game isn't the most complex game there is or one with deep mechanics and it certainly knows that but at the same time it excels where games which are like this, typically don't. This game doesn't try to imitate something it's not leaving you with a half-assed game-play system, instead it just keeps it simple, focuses on it's strengths, fleshes out it's core mechanics and diverts it's efforts and attention to the rest of the game.

It's an excellent game and there is a place for them in this industry

Blew my fucking mind as a kid when enemies reacted to where they were shot in the original Medal of Honor for PS1. The AI was pretty damn good.

I remember on the firs left, crossing a bridge you ran into one of the soldiers wearing brown accompanied by an officer. I fired at the one in brown and it blew his helmet off. They both turned tail and ran.

Also, they kicked grenades backs. Damn those were good times.

To be fair. Halo 2-3 was hated more than CoD back in the day. It was pretty much the poster boy for how console is ruining games and if you liked it it was pretty much admitting you were a 12 year old normalfag who doesn't actually play games.

It still amazes me that we have threads of people liking it these days, if you would tell me 2007 that people on here would be accepting of Halo 2 and 3 and reminisce about their fond memories about it, I would just not believe it.

you can notice the difference when they're side by side by 4x still looks fine.
Besides that, it only drops to 4x in certain sections and there are almost no parts of the game where you have a long flat surface to even notice poor texture filtering, almost all environments are organic and covered with flora

I love Perfect Dark but this image has a few questionable things.

1) PD's story isn't really exceptional or anything, by the standards of year 2000 FPS it's squarely in the "average" column. Goldeneye's storytelling was pretty advanced for a 1997 FPS though.

12) Perfect Dark's graphics were excellent for a 5th generation console game, but they were clearly showing their age by year 2000 compared to new consoles and new PCs.

13) Turok 2 had the weapon dial and it came out before Perfect Dark

15) PD's gameplay wasn't groundbreaking. It's literally a polished up Goldeneye. Goldeneye was the one with the groundbreaking gameplay.

That being said it's an amazing FPS with a ridiculous amount of attention to detail, and is still the king of the genre when it comes to amount of content included in the game.

Not OP, but yes. The game is fun if you're into MP games and don't mind the scene eventually dying for it. It's thriving and will bustle more when each operator pack drops. Only issues I've noticed is that the netcoding/game on PC itself can sometimes play like ass, i.e. slow load-ins and shit like that. Only happens to a small portion of people, but there's a bunch of fixes people have discussed online. The only game I've put 50+ hours into in a long time, just because it's incredibly satisfying with a good group of chums, randomly met or other wise.

Which is why console hardware is important and helps bring a level of stability to developers. Imagine if the industry was working on Nvidia's clock. EA and Ubisoft would've form monopolies, Nvidia would just collect bank and sit on it instead of investing in the industry by contracting quality games and almost every single AA dev would go bankrupt or be regulated to Indie greenlight devs.

Nvidia would actually probably bankroll EA or some other garbage AAA studio and start contracting games though but not to make something good, it'll be to sell their new $700 GPU's lmao.
