You don't have to look at the second screen for 90% of the game, and when you do it's not a big deal. It's basically only for fine-tuning shots in all-range mode and during certain boss fights.

The gyro aiming is fine.
The dull level design, accomplishing or failing mission objectives barely affecting the route you take, supposed alternate routes being simple boss fights with no lead-up segment, and lack of multiplayer are the problem.

Controls actually grew on me after awhile.
I didn't like that the split paths were just insanely drawn out all range mode boss fights.
Also didn't like how you can't sort of "flow" into different levels like 64. You had to replay a level and lock onto to some nigger it was dumb. The secret on Titania was cool though.

Nah it's deeper than that. Nintendo just made Star Fox 64 over again with fewer planets and bad controls. Literally no-one was asking for a remake of Star Fox 64. I would rather just wait for a Citra update that lets me play Star Fox 64 3D in HD.
