this is running on the 360, i know that for some backwards compatible games that they run worse on the 360 than they did on the OG. so it might be that. i don't remember the framerate being TOO shoddy when i played it. maybe my memory is wrong though.

I can't understand how you could possibly enjoy BL as a SC fan.
All those little details and plenty of game mechanics which were added slowly to the series to elevate it from good to fantastic were ripped out and replaced with a huge objective marker and copy paste "stand next to 3 terminals to hack them" sidequests.

>>337165517
Body mocap. Idea is having the actor mocapping while reading the lines or doing the action, so subtle things like breathing and posture reflect the lines. It makes a huge difference in the animation, both with the result and the effort to produce.

IronSam fit the image, but not the physique; he summed it up with his 'nobody wants to see me jogging or shimmying up a pole' line. JohnSam is reading some shitty lines with a wooden tongue, but that's how SC1 was. Give it another game or two, and the edges will be softer.

>>337166348
>All those little details and plenty of game mechanics

>huge objective marker
Is it a known objective? If yes, it deserves a goddamn marker. If no, it doesn't have one (panic room).

>copy paste "stand next to 3 terminals to hack them" sidequests
What? The only repeated objectives are the opportunity ones, which go away forever once you do them once, and are limited to picking up flash drives, using computers, and KO-capturing VIPs.

Which Amon Tobin albums should I get?

Sound masking, different light states, surfaces creating different sounds on different moving speeds, interrogations, guard conversations which lead to alternate paths, alternate paths which are not "climb around the level on a ledge", hacking/lockpicking minigames, manual fucking jump and some other moves like the combat roll and split jump.
I probably forgot a few too.

>Is it a known objective? If yes, it deserves a goddamn marker
No it does not.
Giving the player a map and several paths to get to the objective is the right way to do it, not drawing a line on the floor like the player is a mongo.

>What? The only repeated objectives are the opportunity ones
Exactly, these 3 types of lazy copy pasted, pointless and not fun shit objectives are what I'm talking about.

>Sound masking, different light states, surfaces creating different sounds on different moving speeds
All in Blacklist. There's no meters in the UI (bar the visibility bulb on Sam's back), but everything is there and affects detection.

>interrogations, guard conversations which lead to alternate paths
Level design and interface. Guards which can be interrogated are either totally isolated and could basically be a cutscene, or surrounded by other guards and missed by ghosts and the trigger-happy alike. And considering the need to map more actions to the same amount of buttons for quick action, the "CQC" button can't have any more actions tied to it.

>alternate paths which are not "climb around the level on a ledge", hacking/lockpicking minigames
Combat. Combat in everything until Conviction was a free pass to progress in levels without detection autofailure, albeit at the cost of mission rating. So you could force open alarm doors rather than search for a fuse box or hack the door, because you don't care about guards. Blacklist made a point of having combat less viable (to the point of it being garbage at higher difficulties), which meant removing optional alarmed conventional passages.

>manual fucking jump and some other moves like the combat roll
Combat roll's in, IIRC. As for the jump, anywhere you'd need to jump to progress includes a context jump.

>split jump.
Really useless. Like, so useless the level designers in the video comment on how rare it was to have a hallway where you could split jump. It was more common in earlier SCs, but was cheat-level detection avoidance, so it got cut down.
