Which mechanics? Recent patches have all reduced the number of Warcraft 3-isms in Dota, and Icefrog's abandoned Warcraft 3 compatibility with new items/heroes.
He's right, people who play MOBAS daily are addicted. They play under the guise that it's like an MMO with it's continuation lifetime and they can easily control how much they play but let's not kid ourselves. These people play game after game all day so it really is no different from being addicted to an MMO. Except here it is even worse because you're matched up with randoms, sometimes you'll do great which makes you feel amazing reward and sometimes you'll do bad and want to play another game for redemption.
The genre is fun as far as dota and league go but fuck playing that shit on a daily basis, so glad I'm away from it
