Nope. What's worse is that the FFVII remake is going to rip the battle system right out of this game and paste it into its own. Crisis Core was a good spinoff, and it was fine to break tradition for a spinoff game that was just a lore catch up for the bigger story of FFVII. Taking a classic game and completely gutting the gameplay is retarded.
These nips need to realize that the line between JRPG turn based combat and WRPG real time combat isn't fine at all. By creating all this shit that falls into the grey area, they're actually creating some of the most boring and generic battle systems ever seen in any RPG.
Hack n Slash has its own genre, it doesn't need to be stitched in where it doesn't belong. I'm completely expecting both FFXV and the FFVII remake to be mindless hack n slash adventures between movie scenes.

I was hyped for this 10 years ago... but after all the changes i really went from hype to nope.
I don't care about a bro road trip story wise and i just don't like the cast of characters.
Some parts like Noctis dream look fun and some stuff like boarding an enemy airship from a moving train or making shit explode looks cool but only marginally.
While i support the reduction on the cast, because let's be honest, most times half of the casts of FF is there to fill the blanks, i don't like the fact that they are all bros from day one.
Best casts for me are those where team mates are not an extension from the MC... i like my party members not getting along and having different POVS and coming from different places, different cities, having different styles and fighting each other over real stuff not friends fighting because Noctis doesn't want lettuce. Sure, that adds realism but i am not looking for realism on a game with FANTASY as part of it's title.
So no, not GOTY. I think it's already lost against Uncharted 4, though i don't think that is GOTY either. I'll put my money on Hellblade.
