Should I place my trust on this chart made by based Nvidia?
>>
You can wait and see people test it.
>>
>>337113883
No.
The 1080 will be the fastest (and probably most expensive) card for a year but then they'll start dropping support for it and start gimping drivers for their new batch of cards (Ti and so on). Plus AMD is absolutely wrecking NVIDIA's shit in Vulkan and DX12. The 290/390 are on par with the 980 now.

>no real benchmarks

Doesn't look like it can hit 60fps 4k maxed out in Witcher 3 though
>>
>>337114485
Lots of people are saying Pascal supports Async shit now. All of this is too good to be true.

Still, I'm currently using a 290x and I see no game worth the upgrade
>>
>>337114485

fucking idiot they don't gimp cards in the same series
>>
>>337116140

just wait for the dust to settle

290x is still mighty fine today
>>
>>337113883
No nigga there's no reason to own a flagship GPU, there's no good vidya, just wait for Polaris
>>
>Nvidia Announce new shit
>next day my gpu starts hitting 90c and above

jesus christ they could have gimped me more subtly, could have waitied atleast a week
>>
The vast majority of games don't need more power.
At some point its just best to stick with good cheaper hardware.
The GTX750Ti and GTX960 along with the AMD counter parts,
are honestly more than you need for the vast majority of games out there
>>
>>337113883
Holy shit it does 2.5x Virtual Realities????
>>
GPUs like the R9 390X are utter overkill for most games out there

No
Never trust those

Wait it out the first batch will be problematic anyway
Also wait for those russians who make and update benchmarks and do it right
>>
That chart is shit
>>
Rumors are that AMD are making a faster per clock HD7870 that clocks higher and only needs to be fed from PCI-E. They needed a GTX750Ti direct competitor and it looks like they are doing it
>>
>>337113883
Yes, you should trust everything Nvidia says, after all their top priority is to make quality, long-lasting products and provide help with accurate information so you can make the best possible decision.
>>
Eh, I'm looking for a PC upgrade, I might SLI 2 1080's, I had 290's but it just wasn't enough power for my liking, and anything was a garbage upgrade.

1080 is faster than a titanX for half the price which is a good thing, it's also faster than SLI 980's, which is pretty good too.

I just want a bunch of shit to upgrade, so I can have 4k 60FPS on all games, not just random working XFIRE games, unity full screen mode games don't have compatibility for XFIRE.

Plus I do a bunch of other shit than just play games.

I'll wait for an MSI branded card to come out, by then all the bugs should be minimal.
>>
>>337113883

Give it 6 months or even a year of market data and check the performance then. Marketing hype should always be ignored.

>*VR Performance based on Barbarian benchmark
That game isn't coming out for months. How can they use that as a benchmark with a straight face?

Do I go for a 6700k + 1080 or 6800k + 1080?
I'm not sure if it's worth it spending extra ~150$ on Broadwell-E.
Will get a new screen and SSD later.

I can't barely play most of my games at a tolerable framerate with an r9 290.

How long until press get their hands on the cards and release benchmarks?
>>
>>337123205
That's an amazing looking chart m8

On topic, I plan to buy GTX1080 if the reviews won't show any unexpected deficiencies. I'm still running GTX680 and haven't played W3 yet, cause I wanted to experience it with all expansion content on max settings at 1440@60.
>>

Here is why you shouldn't buy Pascal:

>Will under perform bad in DX12
>Will get crippled once Volta comes out

You know, the usual NVIDIA business procedures...

Before you post this

Even Maxwell had async compute engines, but what Maxwell and Pascal lack is called scheduler, Maxwell and Pascal can have a software scheduler but this means NVIDIA can gimp it as they see fit, so Maxwell users are screwed and Pascal users will be screwed once Volta comes out.

Conclusion: Wait for Volta or wait to see what AMD has to offer with Polaris or Vega
>>
>>337124415
Did you fall for the 'i7 will matter with the new consoles' meme? No need to go after those who made a smarter purchase just because you're feeling that buyer's remorse.
>>
>>337113883
Wait for benchmarks
Wait for AMD
Wait
Wait
Wait and NEVER LOOK AT /v/ or /g/ threads about GPUs again after you make a purchase.
>>
>>337124820
I have a overclocked haswell-e because I do CPU-Heave work besides gaming and I get much better framerates with my R9 290 that other people. This is what let me to believe that 4-thread cpu is outdated.

>No need to go after those who made a smarter purchase just because you're feeling that buyer's remorse
I didn't go after anyone. I was just curious if that might be the reason that anon has framerate issues with his 290. No need to be so passiv agressiv
