It's biased. Maybe good, maybe bad, but deliberately skewing historical representation. If the Hellfighters are the campaign's focus, teaming up with the horsewoman to BE SOLDIERS, that's garbage. If they're just barely surviving in a larger conflict, that's cool. If the Hellfighters and horsewoman are episodic side-characters to the protagonist's average soldier, that's best. Representation has no effect on game mechanics, so pushing a minority experience as typical of the War is pure bias.

Realism doesn't make a good video game. It makes a simulator. Something which in practice is not actually what you want.
Both the consumer and the developer have forgotten that the core of a video game is a GAME, which is why half the time all these games you get hyped for when you see the proof-of-concept or trailer turn out to be shit.
What you actually want is to BE in WW1 and experience it without any of the consequences or pain. Technology doesn't allow for this. So when "games" are designed around trying to best recreate a simulation of WW1, they take shortcuts, make abstractions, cut corners, and approximate aspects of WW1, as they are limited by interface (the controller) among other things. This is how you end up with QTEs, executions, walking simulators, and interactive cutscenes. Forget the setting, forget the plot, forget the characters. What is the GAME beneath all the textures and skins?
When games are designed with that idea in mind, that's when we get new breakthrough IPs that everybody starts shitting themselves over and trying to copy, like the Souls series.
