Spencer said he wasn't going to do any half-measures or an upgraded version of the same system. The implication is that they would be coming out with a 9th generation system if you read between the lines.
PS4K is basically just a PS4 on a smaller process and the cores doubled up on GPU. It's not Polaris. It's still Jaguar, not Puma.
It will be the weakest system on the market when the Xbox2 and the NX drop -- which will be very interesting to see after they talked a lot of shit about how powerful their system was.

Whenever they have to, probably not so long after the Xbox 2 is out, you don't think the 9th gen Xbox will be coming out in the next 2-3 years, right?
They can come out with the 4.5 3 years after the 4 is out, I'm sure in 3 or 4 years they can have a PS5 ready.
Not saying it's a good idea, but don't doubt they'll respond to MS. And if the Xbox comes out first, the PS5 will be more powerful for sure, they've learned their lesson with the PS3.
All of this is just proving Iwata right when he said that the console wars is just a graphics measuring contest and nothing more. Ironic considering Nintendo's position now compared to the two companies that care more about graphics then anything else, and are successful at it as well.

PC has always been strong, with a consistently larger userbase compared to any console, but no-one other than young children really play on console today. Now that the average "gaymer" is in their mid 30s, PC has very much returned to seeing a lot of up and coming AAA development shifting away from the console market towards PC exclusivity.
Why are Microsoft and Sony even thinking about pushing another console? There are barely any games for the PS4 and XBO as it is.
