There are too many characters that all do different things with no concept of balance or team dynamics in mind when designed. It's just 12 interchangeable pixar rejects screaming lasers, bullets, and shurikens at each other with no particular necessity for any of them, complete with a 360-no-scope montage clip built in at the end of rounds.
It's very call of duty/battlefield esque where you winning or losing has nothing to do with the teamwork you have, nor does the character you pick matter.
Tf2 was built in mind with the design paradigm that certain team comps would counter others, and that a good balance of each role is necessary. Not that way anymore unless you find a legacy server.

I've got TF2 about a week after it was out for free, and been playing it untill 2015 when i got sick of the hat policy ( I unboxed my own unusual ) and stopped playing it as much as I used to and played ocasionally, when Overwatch was first annouced i thought that its just an another shitty Tf2 copy, but after playing the open beta i must say that its nearly better.
Only thing that keeps me in TF2 are the fun gamemodes and custom maps.

Overwatch isn't inherently a bad game. It has a lot of qualities that are good, for instance, variety. It also suffers a lot from its emphasis on ults and its lack of balance, the latter to be expected in a new game.
But Overwatch suffers from the same problems that League of Legends does: It's just not enough. When comparing League to Dota, we see a very similar game with a very similar playstyle - but the Dota backend is much more open. People can submit their own projects, make their own maps, even make their own unique games, all supported by Valve themselves. This comes with its own fair share of awful things, but many, many gems come through midst the shit.
Team Fortress 2 is very similar - the options for gameplay are immense and varied. Players can host their own servers, which has created unique communities that have thrived for years. People can make any kind of gamestyle they want, and play what they want to without limitation.
Overwatch feels like a step backwards, like League of Legends does - there is no opportunity for players to change things as they wish, just premade Blizzard game modes that are tired and boring. There's no opportunity for variety, no range for strange, and nothing truly clever about it. Instead, they subsist their community on future character releases, maps, and wacky skins, hoping that it hides the immense flaws that it has in the face of TF2.
At least it has waifus, I guess. But I have the Internet, and other people make SFM already. I don't need Overwatch to look at butts.

The biggest issue for me is that Overwatch pubs basically feel like DotA 2 solo queue.
6v6 means you can either play the hero you want or pick the hero that will help you win the game.
No real way to just keep grinding a class to git gud while NOT working against your team.
The second thing is the fact that there are no servers. The best way to git gud in TF2 is to find a community server you enjoy and just keep playing, you naturally will figure out who the good guys to support are for example. No Friendlist, Battletag or other bullshit required.
