His normal orbs don't have tracking so you have to lead shots if they move a lot. I treat his charge up as a medium-short range shotgun blast type thing. I don't know why people take POTG that seriously. The game randomly picks from the list of people who land 3+ kills in a short span of time and shows it at the end of the game. It's literally RNG. The better you do across the game, the more likely you'll get POTG if you give a shit about that sort of thing.
It's why Bastion, Reinhardt and Widowmaker get POTG all the fucking time, they're the best in their class.
Putting it simply, though, if your support or low tier hero gets picked for POTG after a win, it's time to play with a different team, 'cause a Lucio getting two environmental kills and a snipe across the map on a weak enemy getting picked over the aforementioned others in your team, they clearly fucking suck and you only won because the other team sucked slightly more.

Kills don't take skill in overwatch since all the kills are shared as long as the person gets a hit, i've got a 20 kill streak as mercy just by occasionally shooting at people inbetween healing.

That's pretty much what I do. Luckily, no-one wants to pick Support classes 'cause they think this game is fucking TF2 or Quake, so I get to always play Lucio.
