There are better cars for the price.

Its upbeat electronic music with cheesy and barely coherent english lyrics.

Its the music that you hear on a tipical Initial D accion scene.

Look for "Running in the 90s" thats the first song i think about when i hear Eurobeat.

Started watching Initial D last week.
Jesus christ I'm all for the fucking hype eurobeats but goddamn those 3D models are horrible. Does it get better? It's fucking jarring.
>>

its electro music with mainly audiences in italy and japan, japan mostly imported it.

>>336824925
Any vidya that could help me learn drive manual shift?
My burger past stills clings into me...
>>
>>336828405
They do. Over the course of the series, the 3D models get a lot better, but the awesome hand drawn animation for characters and backgrounds disappears immediately after the first season and eventually everyone just starts looking like Takumi.

Later seasons also become a pretty boring racer-of-the-week series with none of the fun slice of life stuff that makes First Stage great.
>>
>>336828369
That's often the case. Especially when driving on asphalt.
>>
>>336828405
yes, the 3D models greatly improve

too bad the story takes a fucking nosedive after 2
>>
>>336828459
Euro Truck Simulator 2, maybe? Manal shifting isn't complicated, you just have to get the hang of it.
>>
>>336824925
Try Split Second. It's faster to drift than to simply go straight and it gives you the ability to trigger explosions and shit.
>>
>>336828405
you'll get used to them. I did anyway.
The non 3d animation gets a lot better by second stage but they always keep the 3d.
>>
>>336828459
you'd need to get a steering wheel+pedals. Racing games allow manual transition but pedal work is the most demanding.
>>
>>336828574
>>336828545
That's a HUGE dissapointment.
Makes you wonder how a franchise that nosedived after its second part built such a loyal fanbase.
>>
>>336827808
Thanks anon.
>>
>>336828634
Man, Split Second is fucking fun. It not one bit competitive with that piece of shit rubber-banding but driving fast through destruction is a blast (no pun intended).
Too bad its dev is dead and it's locked at 30 fps.
>>
>>336828419
I'm not really well equipped to take better pictures. I used a relatively old digital camera, and if the images move a little in the game because I can pause it, then it does the blur. I don't have a screen capture device for my PS3 toward the computer. My TV and PS3 are in the same room, but not in the same room as the computer.
>>
>>336828459
Not really; even a good sim with a full wheel and pedal setup won't give you the experience of actually driving.

Manual is one of those things you've basically gotta do in person to learn. Every car has a different feeling clutch- the bite point might be higher or lower, it might be too stiff to engage smoothly or the pedal might drop to the floor so quick you have no idea where the bite point even is. Then there's the gearbox itself- that nice little H-pattern you see on the knob rarely matches where the gears actually are (see >>>/o/14973945 for fun shitbox experiences).
>>
what do you guys think of the first GRID game?
>>
>>336827523

It's when Italians, Germans, French, and English musicians saw the Japanese discotech scene and decided they needed to be part of that. The grand majority of artists are European and the producers are often Japanese. It's what happens when eurodance reaches the limit but decides to continue anyways because "can't stop won't stop"
>>
>>336828714
the music being a unique pick and very catchy, first two seasons really hooking you in with the "local village" feeling and just generally being nice. The later seasons suck but after being sucked in by the first two seasons you are in for the whole ride.

Im still pissed off the end of season one implied that the relationships would end up allright. But for some reason the sileighty girls just all of the face of the planet except for the finale.
>>

People should really post more non-Initial D eurobeat, seeing the same songs every thread gets pretty boring.
>>
>>336828943
Absolute best sim-cade gameplay of the entire the racing genre. The drifting is god dalmn fun, also.
>>
>>336828714
First Stage alone with its slice of life stuff hits a lot of notes that the car nerds watching (/reading the original manga) identify with- loving your car even if it's a shitbox, trying to go hektik with your friends, the joy of a full tank of gas and an empty road, assholes with sports cars that cost more than your house showing off, etc. Plus it's just fun. You get to know the characters and their friends, and probably draw parallels with your own group of buddies (protip: every group has an Itsuki. If it doesn't have one, you're him.).

Also the music is cheesy fun and the games are, for the most part, very good. There's also all the meme-ery through internet miasma (Running in the 90's, multi-track drifting, etc) that spreads it further.
>>
>>336828919
>that nice little H-pattern you see on the knob rarely matches where the gears actually are
Oh man that reminds me of when I started to learn how to drive, I trained on a cheap shitbox and the knob was so loose I could never tell when I was in 1st or 3rd gear.

On dirt road it could be true. Rally pilots are not drifting just because it's cool, but because it's more efficient.

I hated the plot armor they forced in the later stages as well, making sure Takumi never legitimately lost a race (engine blowing, god hand being a better driver in almost every way but pulling over to throw up, c'mon).

Which is stupid because even Bunta explained the importance of losing in developing your ability.

But that's because it's more efficient to slide the car and use the sidewalls of the tires to slow down, rather than brake in a straight line. Obviously this only applies to loose surfaces like dirt and gravel.

>>336832201
project D basically fucked takumi since if he would lose once project D was over. He had to win.

His engine blowing felt like the author wanted him to lose without actually making him lose. With godhand and the rally racer guy he won with asspulls because it was the least destructive asspull. It would be better if takumi lost a few times and later adopted the imp after the 86 gave out to signify the end of an age.
>>
>>336832770
at the last race takumi had teleportation and blowing your engine was a fitting way to win.. If anything the final race actually made sense since there were two people in similar cars. Unlike other races were its takumi in his shitbox against good cars.

Others were stupid

It was pretty stupid. He was going to lose it, it was clear as day, and then his engine conveniently blew at the exact right time and he blocked the other guy while spinning and finished the race.

That's almost as stupid as winning because the other guy had a heart problem.

really, RR6 and 7 are super under-rated, and they came out at a time when non-realistic racing handling in a realistically styled game was seen as the greatest sin of them all

Ridge Racer 2 on PSP is similarly brilliant. Love that game.

How's your Eurobeat collections coming along, anons?

Sitting at 20GB myself, thinking of downloading some more tonight
>>

Well, the cars have zero weight to them and the engines are sissy mode weak other than the 86's 4A.

It's realistic.

Europe still has quite a few AE86s especially in the northern parts, they're still used regularly in everything from circuit racing to backwoods rallying.

They're considerably more rare in the states because no one wanted to buy a top trim level Toyota Corolla in 1983 in the US and expect it to survive to 2016, so they've all either rusted to shreds or been bought by drivers and crashed.

Don't lie.

It's a common thing with Japanese cars. They tend to use the same name for all the generations and trim levels internally and different names when exported along with all the different engines for different markets, so it's easier to just use the chassis code and not have to type out/say "Toyota Corolla 1983-1987 two door coupe/three door hatchback with 4A series inline 4 engine" instead of "AE86" or "First generation Nissan 180SX/200SX/240SX/Silvia" instead of "S13."

Toyota Corolla.

The US AE86 is the Toyota Corolla GT-S (only trim level with the 4A-G engine). US models have pop-up headlights only (slightly different from the Japanese pop-up front end due to the 5mph bumper), as the fixed light version wasn't elevated high enough off the ground for US safety standards.

The European AE86 is again the Toyota Corolla, except their version only comes with the square fixed headlights because the pop-up lights didn't adhere to THEIR safety standards.

Japan has two models of AE86, the Sprinter Trueno which is the one with flippy headlights and the Corolla Levin with the fixed lights. Other than headlights and brakelights, they're identical cars, and not only was their GT-S trim more powerful than the export versions (although not by much, given the car in question), there was also the top of the line GT-APEX trim above that (which is what Tofuboy drives).

Flippy lights are fantastic, yeah. No one understands my love for them.

I'm not sure about European car modification laws (varies by country, I'd assume, so check your local legislation), but it isn't too hard to swap the front end over- get the headlights and motor assemblies from a flippy light version, the hood, bumper, and front fenders, and everything will bolt right on. You'll have to do some re-wiring to make the motors work alongside the headlights, of course, but there's probably guides for that- Nissan guys swap out front ends on their S13s all the time.

there's automodellista that can be emulated too, but it's mediocre.
Could emulate the ps2/psp initial d games as well

Okay boys spoonfeed me here.

I've absolutely never touched Initial D, but I fucking love Eurobeat and have a load of tracks on my phone.

Should I read the manga?

Should I watch the anime?

Are the movies worth?

What do?
>>
>>336841696
>the movies
movieS? There are more than one movie?
>>
It wouldn't be the force of mu, as mu is just a ratio coefficient
>>
>>336841696
The anime has some minor stuff cut off but anime has eurobeat so it's up to you. The movie's part of the series along with seasons and ovas, so watch them in order. If you're talking about the New Initial D movies, they're a new adaptation of the manga, I believe the three movies cover the first season of the anime but I'm yet to watch them so I dunno if they're good.

There is some 2005 live action thing that is not really worth watching. Then you have Initial D Legend 1, 2 and 3.
Is 3 on internets yet? Possibly subbed?

>>
>>336842792
>>336842632
I think it's an Initial D mod for Grid, which is why you might have thought it was Dirt Rally since the enviroments look similar (only less detailed)
>>
>>336842632
Sorry, was getting coffee.
That's the ProjectD mod for rFactor. The track is Akina.
