That honesty sounds fucking awesome.

Here's another shot I pulled from the trailer. This game looks like everything I was hoping it to be, and more which is amazing.
>>
Why does this series trigger /v/ so hard?

As a strictly PC gamer I'm so glad console graphics have gone from good -tier to amazing this gen, more and more games are looking so good that you really have to stop and pick some small details which will obviously be shitty on consoles, but in general the games look great.

Dunno about gameplay tho never played any Uncharted games

>>
>>336775000

>>336773712
6-8/10 series where all the games are given 10/10 by reviewers because its very easy and has a lot of cutscenes that make people who actually have GAMING JOURNALIST on their business card feel smart. Huge focus on grafix, when most of the trailers are full of bullshots and the game itself has a lot of technical bugs. Generic TPS elements for the most part, the fun really comes from the fact you're essentially playing out an Indiana Jones story. Easily worth a rent, but definitely not a full purchase at $60. But above all, the real reason this game triggers /v/ is that there's no PC version when this game could easily benefit from being released on PC. Most PC fats build these expensive af PCs but all the games that would actually work well with expensive af PCs are console exclusives like Uncharted.

yeah, you can also see each loop around the pole, but its hard to see in the low quality GIF.

The rope physics in Uncharted are unironically really good, the people screaming "scripted!" obviously havnt played the beta or even watched non-trailer gameplay.

Its not realistic, you can keep giving yourself momentum and you can save yourself from a fatal fall by hooking a rope to tree mid-fall, but its not scriped animations and it looks/feels really cool.

Series that single-handedly killed action-adventure genre with emphasis on action and is responsible for the shitty Tomb Raider remake. I'm a huge sonyfag, but even I fucking hate this shit. The only good games Naughty Dog did were Crash Bandicoot games, they have no talent besides that. It's amazing how with huge marketing you can make people think that this game is good, just like Disney did that shitload of marketing the Marvel movies.

Appeal of the Uncharted games?

Is it the overly detailed scenery?

The snap-to-grid platforming?

The generic covershooting?

The tryhard "witty" comedy?

The fact death means nothing when you restart right before you died?

The fact that online multiplayer is tacked on?

The fact that it has zero replay value?

Is it cool?

Uncharted is basically everything wrong with video games today. Developers with a massive budget choose to make a mostly-cinematic experience with utterly lackluster gameplay elements with a total lack of challenge, because the target demographic are movie watchers that bought a PS4 because owning a video game console is considered hip these days.

You're not getting another Crash Bandicoot because of this series and their other movie games.

It's just marketing. Look at the most successful sitcom right now: Big Bang Theory. Look at the superhero films that are getting shitload of money, even though it's the same formula in every movie. They are worse than bad, they are mediocre and forgettable. All that shit is made without love, only with dollar signs in their eyes, so no wonder these games are just "soulless".
>>
>>336778696
It's obvious you haven't played a single game in the series and are just regurgitating shit you've heard on /v/. I know as soon as I see a post about Uncharted containing the words 'movie' and 'cinematic' its just trash.

My favorite chapter was going through the entire train dodging the traffic lights. That.. was scripted? It was simple but satisfying gameplay, especially on harder modes. The entire game was like that. What the fuck do you want them to do?

You bitch and moan about the same hot garbage this 4chan entity spews like a fucking sheeple, and you can't stop. You sound like a god damn fucking CHILD when you say stupid shit like this. Look.

> mostly-cinematic experience with utterly lackluster gameplay elements with a total lack of challenge, because the target demographic are movie watchers that bought a PS4

Are you even self-aware? There is literally, absolutely, positively no thought at all put into this. You didn't come up with this by yourself. You mimicked it, completely. You even played the games, so you say. You might not have liked it, or you did. Maybe you enjoy stirring up shit because you're a child. But every direction points the same, you're a fucking sheeple. I had a challenge, the gameplay elements weren't lackluster, and there was nothing you could have added, and it has great cutscenes. Would you like the cutscenes to be shit? Would you like them to not be there at all and have text floating around?

You're a god damn fucking moron, and I would love to smash your fucking face, I really would. You pussy.

Gameplay is fun. It's a shoot out in a semi open arena. They bad guys actively move around to flank you and you can actively move around to flank them. Gameplay seamlessly switches between stealth and cover shooting and the top notch presentation makes it feel like you're playing a move. There's no other game that has done this. This is video game at its finest and the true evolution of the medium.

Why does /v/ carry the air that they are legitimately offended by games, and that the developers should apologize to them for having the gull to offend them so?

I mean, sure, someone needs to answer for absolute trainwrecks like say, Other M, but Uncharted? What's with this pretentiousness?

Uncharted is a successful franchise that people have loved for years. People are excited to line up to get it because they have a blast playing these games. I don't know how much value you think your opinion holds, but the numbers don't lie. It's a great series, objectively, whether you like it or not. Unclench your cheeks for a bit and you might find something about it, and videogames in general, that you enjoy.

When you have any sort of exigence for platforming, the platforming segments are not fun, but plain and dull despite the obvious efforts to make it spectacular.
The TPS shooting is a bit less boring, but absolutely nothing stellar.

The problem is that this series is symbol of gameplay mediocrity, but it got a free pass because of the whole technical demonstration aspect.

Where did it all go so wrong?
I am actually pretty excited for Uncharted 4 since I think it will finally be somewhat fun to actually play.
But this current generation is just depressive. The games disregarded, it's as if just about everything is just worse than the previous one.
I would much rather have had the PS3 for just a few years longer and then had a PS4 closer to whatever they want to do with the PS5. As to make a leap of actual progress. And isn't the PS4K basically Sony admitting that the PS4 wasn't even up to scruff to begin with? It's ridiculous. And as a Sony fan I fucking hate how people defend Sony like this and taunt the sales numbers as if they prove that Sony did everything right and nothing wrong and that they are all just great and for the players or whatever bullshit. People even defend paying to play online.
It's to the point where I almost feel dirty for even having a PS4. I have absolutely no idea why people would ever defend Sony or the PS4. Especially not old fans of the PS3.

> What the fuck do you want them to do?
You're an absolute moron if you don't think they can pull something like RE4/5 but actually never tried because of their lazziness.

You can have a TPS with advanced gameplay components, like upgrading weapons, opening the areas, giving the player more freedom, let him enjoy what he can do AND have spectacular elements. That's not incompatible.

But the target audience is the movie audience and the casual one. They fear too much that giving the player more options will stop him from playing the game to the end.

So it wants to be a movie and that's basically what it is. They just ask from the player to push button to keep him awoken but nothing more.

I'm not saying the PS4 is a good console. I honestly don't care about it at this point.

The PS3, however, was a shitty ass doorstop with terrible architecture, no games, and an insanely arrogant company who kept making bad managerial decisions about it, one after the other. Yes, they are. As good as other games in their franchise? No

As good as people wanted them to be? Absolutely not.

But there is still enough good in them for people to buy and enjoy them. A game doesn't have to be either groundbreaking or absolute dogshit. It can be something else, it can just be fun, which is all it will ever need. Uncharted just happens to bring the fun in spades.

>>336783095

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you need to try to offend those who do. Those examples you listed are good in their own way. If they weren't, they wouldn't sell. Maybe they are just good as brainless, unimagenative timewasters, they are still good enough for the people who eat them up. If that bothers you, kindly show them what you think is really good, what you enjoy. You might find that some people like what you think is actually good, but you might also find that some people will assault what you consider flawless just as hard as you assault what you consider to be garbage. That's just the way it works, and unless you take a healthy approach to what you and others enjoy then you are just always going to be angry, simple as that.

I'll still defend Uncharted as great, by the way. It's great even by the standards of great, want proof? Give it twenty years, Uncharted will be remembered as an example of things done right, if only because they where a lot of fun for a lot of people.

You're basically what's wrong with videogame casual audience.

I like Uncharted because
>The character animations of Drake are great, both in game and in cutscene
>The characters are charming and charismatic, even if the plots are predictable
>Constantly keeping momentum as I kill a guy, take his gun, kill another guy, repeat without stopping feels great
>There's barely segments where the game forces you to walk at a snail's pace to listen to characters speak, and just has you listen to characters talk during slower climbing/jumping segments
There's definitely cinematic elements to the game but the game never feels like it's holding you down to shove story down your throat, it allows the story and gameplay to blend in a good way

Looks nice, shame about the 30fps though. I get locking multiplat games to 30 since anyone who wants smooth gameplay can play on PC but it sucks when they lock exclusives to 30, it guarantees nobody's going to play it without constant stuttering, unless they buy the next-gen HD remaster I guess
