Is it safe to say that Overwatch is GOTY?
I mean there's currently 12 threads about Overwatch on /v/ right now alone.
It's a well balanced game with a very nice pace to it. Great character designs and level designs. Sound is top notch as well.
What isn't there to like about it?
I already bought mine (digital version), But I will probably pre-order a physical copy so I can have a sealed copy to put on my shelf.

I really don't care that much for the souls things like the shrines and corpse runs but the rest is on point.

the dota-type model of character selection just makes the roster feel so small even though it's quite large by any FPS standard, it feels like they should have like 20 more heroes
It's probably gonna be my favorite multiplayer-dedicated game this year, have been having a damn good time with friends in the beta
overall my favorite is looking like it will be Dark Souls 3 (which I suppose you could argue is also multiplayer dedicated)

Rainbow Six Siege is my goto when I have my buddies together, as it is horrible to play with pubs. Overwatch is pretty fun to play with randos though, I haven't found myself getting aggravated even when we get stomped.
It's fun, but GOTY? I don't know, it would take A LOT more.

It's not perfectly balanced. Everyone/combo has a counter and since you're not locked into the character you choose, you can actively change your team comp. The rest is just communication and gitting gud.

Over watch is a failed tf2 clone.
I had such high hopes for it. I was hoping that blizzard would finally put its pedigree to use and deliver us a good character based shooter. And they did the Hero part right, But sadly neglected the gameplay part.
Every round feels the same. The Heros gameplay has little to no depth. Since you have 1 weapon. Your entire strategy is built around that one weapon and whatever skills you may have. All maps end up playing in nearly the same way. Partly due to the choke point oriented maps and partly due to the unilateral gameplay options for each hero. But the biggest sin is the matchmaking. 6v6 is way to small for a game of overwatch's scope. It should be at the very minimum 12v12 in dedicated servers. The maps are so poorly designed they are either too big or too small in certain parts. Like a series funnels lined up in a straight line.
But my biggest gripe is the loot system. I see the writing on the wall. How long until blizzard begins charging for cosmetics with distracting particle effects or 'rare' qualities of items, Ala tf2/csgo?

Lucio's gun shoots super slow, and at a (if I remember correctly) triple shot burst.
Tracer shoots fast, reloads relatively fast and does insane damage.
Calling someone retarded when you obviously don't understand that a characters damage is more than the damage of one shot and/or what you'd expect "on paper" makes you hypocritical and quite funny to be honest.
