What you're playing now is essentially what you're getting at release. That's how I see open beta's working. I imagine this is a thinly veiled sever stress test/advertisement for the release on the 24th. If Blizzard were to make any changes it'd be either fine-tuning the match-making system or slightly balancing certain characters. I don't know how often character's skills/cooldowns got tuned up in the closed beta but I feel like Blizzard is going to go with this working copy of the game at release and throw their efforts into introducing more characters and skins and shit.
Rumor has it Blizzard has already geared up on another support and another defensive character. Oh and all of the skins and shit earned in the open beta is going to be flushed when the game releases.

Nah. 12 person lobbies are a bit too tryhard for my taste. It becomes too much about carrying a role and you're simply relied on too much which creates a very shitty community that leads to toxicity very quickly.
If the game could be 24 or 32 players it would be much better but it wasn't built around that. It seems overwatch was built with E-sports in mind, everyone either running through their practices for actual team tournaments, tryhards going for top rank, or dumb casuals that don't know any better. It seems it's just another shitty esport bait game from blizzard joining the ranks of Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.
It all becomes quite amusing when it's meant to be competitive but the game has literal auto aim/wall hacking, invulns, and large scale one shots that lend itself more towards anything other than a real competitive game.

The core gameplay is very good, but buried under mounds of poor game design choices.
I was expecting a decent competitor to tf2(as I personally cant stand that fucking game anymore), but Overwatch falls short in every regard.
The characters while nice and varied are all restrained to a single weapon and ability. There go the character is nothing more than a vector for their weapons and abilities. Strategies are bland and unilateral for each hero. There is only one or two ways to play a hero on each map. While I do enjoy the personality traits of each hero, they sadly do not make up for the shortcomings of the game. I believe if blizzard consolidated the heroes into maybe half or two thirds of what is currently available, but give each hero more abilities the game would be more replayable. If you played Winston once on Egypt, you will always end up playing him the same way everytime.
The levels are poorly designed. Too much emphasis on chokepoints and funnel area gameplay. The matchmaking system restricts the games to 6v6, which I personally think; is the biggest shortcoming of the game, as larger maps with more players would be alot more fun and better flush out the game.
Lastly, the biggest flaw is the 'loot' system. I understand it's all free cosmetics for now, but I see the writing on the wall, how long until overwatch goes down the tf2/cs:go road and charges players to unbox premium crates? With particle effect cosmetics and weapons?

I'm gonna buy it. I've played like 10 hours of the Beta and I can see myself playing this game a lot. There are enough opportunities to make big plays and basically be a good player that I can tell this game should keep me interested. Also I have some friends who want to play together over the summer so that should keep things from getting too boring. And that's exactly my biggest gripe with Overwatch. The game is designed around everyone having their awesome moment and a game-changing play consists of pressing Q at the right time. Overwatch frustrates me because it could clearly have been amazing, but Blizzard fucked it up in ways that are really obvious and could be relatively easily fixed (and they are never going to now at this stage) so it's only okay rather than great. I also just turned off my firewall, the university wifi security process, and the large majority of other processes.
Somehow it got worse - just doing a vs AI match and every 10 seconds it hangs for 2 seconds.

Nah. Maybe if the game was $20 I would. It's a super expensive multiplayer game for what's there. Bunch of characters, some maps, practically no modes. I had a buddy tell me it had a bunch of customization 'thanks to crates.' Crazy how people have cucked themselves in terms of unlockables.
It looks cool, and playing against bots and newbs was great.
Won 26 times in a row from the get go, then lost 8 in a row before quitting.
I hate these kinds of games though, pugs for short repetitive missions. Eventually i won't even be able to play my korean waifu against people who know what they're doing, since she's useless besides the occasionally hilarious nuke from behind.

CSGO and Dota 2 already have pretty set fanbases. Granted they still get an assload of new players, I don't either of them will really cut into Overwatch since while the games are similar, they're really still quite different. They all require skill in completely different things and players will go for whatever they find interesting or whatever just clicks with them.

That's the nature of the abilities, not the tickrate. Roadhog's hook simply just has a bullshit hitbox coupled with it's huge auto-aim assistance. I think Mcree's dodge is more of a gap-closer/quick escape than an actual dodge, too, because I always get hit by shit unless I'm almost at the end of the roll.
as it stand now there are many other multiplayer games pvp games I'd rather play, Overwatch feels high budget but amateurish level design is eonugh for me to not buy it
