The PS2 Persona games were never big on the animation.
The camera rarely moves on their faces, and uses a more stylized look.
The Raidou games, for example, look way better than Persona 4 could ever dream to look, but that's only because it uses a more realistic style.

#FE animations are well above what we have seen in Persona 5. Atleast during battle anyway, the characters even interact with eachother depending on condition of the turn, they cheer eachother on, wave to eachother and other small details that put a smile on your face and make you feel like they are a team. I hope P5 has something like that, but I doubt it.
