I personally don't mind her. I wouldn't mind if she ends up on the sfv roster.
I can understand the negative connotation to her though, she was in alpha 3 which is one of if not the most anime fighter in the sf series, and lore wise she's basically a macguffin that solely existed to push bison out of the picture while being most likely the most powerful character canon wise. She also has a lot of history in a canned crossover type thing that I never paid much attention to detail to, but it doesn't really affect her image much just like ruby heart.
So I understand why people think her getting in changes the game to a more anime fighter, as well as potentially meaning she can show up in future games. The other argument is waifu bait, which I don't give a shit about as long as the character is good and fun to play as and against, and sfv has a decent amount of waifus anyway, I see nothing wrong with going all in as long as she's a good character gameplay wise.

Well I wanted to point out with my post that you don't need to go down the AAA cinematic route with a story like Capcom is currently doing. Soul Blade nailed the concept 20 years ago and that was on a fraction of the budget SFV is made on. I don't want cinematic stories to become the norm in fighting games. That shit is a needless resource drain. They should instead seek cheap ways to lengthen the SP experience while still keeping fighting games in a manageable budget. Story mode itself isn't actually the point of the story mode update. It's not intended to be a big selling point on its own, it's a gesture to show casuals and tourneylords alike that SFV is a project that will receive a steady stream of diverse content for a long time. Capcom wants people to see SFV as an active platform/service/experience rather than an unremarkable product that came and went months ago. SP shit and character updates are part of the same long-term PR scheme. And they almost certainly will patch in even more SP content when it comes time for the Super variant too.

But casuals don't see SFV that way. The service model only makes sense for games that are very online-oriented and preferrably F2P. Capcom can keep go on how it's a service and ever-evolving but when casuals buy a game at store, they expect a certain amount of content. And if it's not there, they'll leave the game and never look back. It was a miscalculation on Capcom's end.
What they should've done is delay the whole game to July and offer Tournament Access codes to elite players which would basically become the beta testers of the game.
